Bhakti is working below her TAG. However PIP1 is
assessing a couple of topics from the spec. She needs
to ensure that she is practising past paper questions
and using the feedback from lessons to improve her
exam technique.
Chemistry: A-level: Chemistry Mr M Kapasi A* E C 40
Ms L Patel Bhakti enjoys Chemistry but does not find it easy.
In class, Bhakti is very quiet and is not an active
participant in her learning. Chemistry is not an
easy subject to study and Bhakti needs to ensure
she has a reason for studying it. Use UpLearn,
Chemguide and Youtube to support your
development as a Chemist. Use the exam packs
and take part in lessons as well. You can do it!

Ms S Ali Bhakti needs to use her gap analysis and
feedforward questions from PIP 1 to address the
gaps in her knowledge to improve her
understanding. She should use all available
resources such as Uplearn, TLmaths and Bicen
Maths to support her learning.
EXPLANATORY NOTES

TARGET GRADE: A target takes into consideration what a student has already achieved by looking at their prior attainment at GCSE. This is then used to set a target grade for each
subject, which will stretch and challenge a student to make more than expected progress. A target does not take into consideration attendance, behaviour, or any personal circumstances.

PIP1 GRADE: This is a grade, linked to how a student has performed in their PIP assessment. For the majority of subjects the grades are from A* to U with A* being the highest grade.

PREDICTED GRADE: This is where the teacher predicts the grade that the pupil will achieve by the end of the A Level. This is based on a combination of the PIP assessment, topic tests
and classwork.

KS5 PERCENTAGE GRADE: This is the percentage score achieved in a student's PIP assessment.

ATTITUDE TO LEARNING: This incorporates both a student's work in class and any homework or extra curricular work completed outside of school.

• Outstanding - Behaviour is outstanding and the student always contributes positively to their learning and that of others. Students consistently produce work at the highest
standard that demonstrates the highest levels of care and attention. Students always take an active and enthusiastic role in lessons. Students complete all of the independent
tasks, to include homework, to the best of their ability.
• Good - Behaviour is good and the student contributes positively to their learning and that of others. Students produce good quality work that they complete with due care and
attention. Students answer questions and take an active role in their lessons. Students complete the independent tasks, to include homework, mostly to the best of their ability.
Students meet the deadlines given.
• Expected - Behaviour is satisfactory, students are prepared for learning by being punctual and arriving with the correct equipment. Students complete the work set and
demonstrate acceptable levels of engagement and concentration throughout lessons. Students complete independent tasks set, to include homework, however not always to the
best of their ability. Students mostly meet the deadlines given.
• Unsatisfactory - Students do not arrive to lessons with the required equipment for learning. Student behaviour is inconsistent and limits their progression and that of others.
Students rarely complete the work and it lacks the expected care and attention. Students rarely answer questions and rarely take an active and enthusiastic role in lessons.
Students rarely complete the independent tasks set, to include homework and rarely meet the deadlines given.
