Review
For the review and introduction to this lesson, answer the following questions:
- What was our previous topic?
- What are the different types of form?
- What are the functions/ where can we use these types of forms in EIM?
- Is there any question regarding the previous topic we have?

 The teacher presents the objectives by allowing learners to read it. The teacher gives further inputs to emphasize the
learning goals that students will achieve at the end of the lesson.
 After reading the objectives, the teacher asks if the learners are ready for the lessons and the activities.
A. Reviewing previous
lesson or presenting Motivation:
the new lesson Directions: Inside Box A are jumbled letters. Arrange the letters to form words pertaining to electrical measuring tools and
instruments.
* What have you observed on the word arranged?
* Are you familiar with the names formed?
* Where can we usually see this tool?
* Can you state the function or uses of this tool?
* Based on the names arrange and on your answers what do you think is our topic?

B. Establishing a purpose * The teacher presents the objectives by allowing learners to read it.

MEASURING TOOLS AND INSTRUMENTS

Measurement is the process or the result of determining the ratio of a physical quantity, such as a length, time, temperature, etc., to
a unit of measurement, such as the meter, second or degree Celsius. The science of measurement is called metrology. The English
word measurement originates from the Latin mēnsūra and the verbmetiri through the Middle French mesure.

Electrical measuring tools and instruments are sensitive and delicate. So, extra care is necessary in handling them. These are used
to measure currents, voltages, resistances, wattages, and other important elements in electrical works
Further Readings:
• Amperage (Amps) - a unit of measurement of electrical current flow.
• Ampere - a unit of measurement which describes the amount of electric current passing a certain point at a particular time.
• Centimeter - hundredth of a meter Inch - a portion of a foot, which is an English unit of linear measurement.
• Megger - an instrument used to measure the insulation resistance of conductors or wire. It gives measurement in ohms or
meg-ohms.
• Millimeter - one-thousandth of a meter.
• Multi-tester - an electrical measuring instrument used to measure the voltage, the resistance or the current of a circuit. It is
connected either through parallel or series with the circuit depending on what to measure.
• Ohm - the unit of measurement used to express resistance.
• Ohmmeter - an instrument used to measure resistance in ohms.
• Volt - a unit of measurement of electrical pressure or voltage.
• Voltmeter - an instrument specially designed for measuring voltage.
• Wire Gauge - used to measure the diameter of magnetic wire

9. Developing Mastery
Formative Practice Directions: Multiple Choice Test. Choose the letter of the object being described and
write the letter of your answer on your answer sheet.

THURSDAY
Note: Conduct review on the previous lesson and present the objectives Knowledge, Skill, and Attitude.
10. Finding practical Learning Objectives:
applications of concepts 1. Select tools appropriate for the job.
and skills in daily living 2. Manipulate the measuring device according to its purpose.
3. Enhance the skills in mensuration and calculation.
APPLICATION
What I Can Do
Directions: Using a ruler, measure the length, width, and thickness/height of the given objects below. Write your answers inside the
corresponding box. Place your drawing and labels in your activity notebook. You will be graded according to the rubrics given.
• Completeness – Complete drawing with labels.
• Neatness – The quality of your output.
• Correctness of Information – The correctness of information from the different measurements.

FRIDAY
Note: Present the objectives Knowledge, Skill, and Attitude.
11. Making generalizations Learning Objectives:
about the lesson
1. Select tools appropriate for the job.
2. Manipulate the measuring device according to its purpose.
3. Enhance the skills in mensuration and calculation.

The teacher will ask questions about the discussion.
