The brief historical background was narrated by means of information. Before,
Lindero residential structures were single detached with wide lot areas and
characterized by coastal area, river and river banks called Cairawan cutting through the
National Highway and draining towards the sea, located in the Central portion of the
place.
Later the structure of the river changed direction to the Northern portion and left
minor creeks, swamps and vast expanse of land covered with tall grasses and trees.
The clearing of the area to established residence was initiated by the people living in the
lace. The past prominent people of that time started on the process of discovering the
p
name of the place “LINDERIA” commonly known to the old folks “ LINDERO” meaning
boundary between two big barangays in the Municipality of Laua-an along the National
Highways namely Poblacion and Guisjan.

mountainous portion of the Eastern part of barangay Lindero became Sitio, fondly called
“Malawmawan” , was included in the area. Sitio Malawmawan was named and
established during world war II where the Philippines was liberated from Japanese
control by allied forces in 1944 “MALAWMAWAN '' comes from the name of the three
“MALAWMAW” who protected our ancestors during the war, the tree covered the whole
place of Sitio Malawmawan so that the Japanese will not immediately recognized our
ancestors they used this three to protect themselves. In the middle part of the 19th
Century after the 2nd World War, people depended on the weaving hat industry made
by “BURI '' and “ BIRIBED” as their source of income and many rode to Political Power
and became leaders.
Hence, for the first time in the history of Lindero, elected Mayor year 1950-1954
Baltazar Necesito Sr. created and constructed Barangay Road, land donation from
Antonio Sarmiento and Tomas Bangcaya year 1950. All were natives in Lindero.
It was in the year 1960’s when another resident rode to political power as leaders
of Municipality Alfredo Bangcaya Sr Vice Mayor and three Municipal Councilors,
Alejandro Sarmiento Sr. Jose Lagrimosa Sr. Jose Alamis.
In the year 1970’s Barangay Lindero was remembered with such a status ruled
y Capitan del Baryo referred to as Barangay Administrators with the tenure of

undetermined period of service respectively. By succession Moises Manlangit, Cerilo
Bangcaya, Alfredo Bangcaya Sr. Carlos Jungco Sr., and Marco Solangon Sr. It was
during the incumbency of Marcos Solangon Sr. when the old Barangay Hall and
Multi-Purpose pavement were constructed with a donation of lot from Baltazar Necesito
Sr.
In 1984 the constructor of the new National Highway and Cairawan Bridge were
transferred to the Eastern portion and the old one remained abandoned.
Years went by and various changes were made in the place .
The residential houses were lined up beside the new National Highway, abandoned
National Road, Barangay Road, Farms and along the coastal area wherein majority of
the household is dependent on farming and fishi8ng as their means of livelihood.
