INTASC Standard #4: Content Knowledge

The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the
discipline(s) he or she teaches and creates learning experiences that make the discipline
accessible and meaningful for learners to assure mastery of the content.
Reflection and Rationale:
These two artifacts are lesson plans which showcases my use of gradual release of
responsibility, modeling, and explicit instruction in my lesson. These are methods a frequently
use in my lessons to convey the information and break it down into achievable steps that the
students could easily grasp. It also allows them to move at a pace that keeps them on firm footing
before they move on to the next topic. This demonstrates my knowledge of the content and
ability to communicate and demonstrate it to the students. It demonstrates a clear and consistent
use of methods that require my understanding of the way in which math and math instruction
builds upon itself.
