The Company started a building construction with a finger count, by stepping stone the company
has completed more than 100 building with satisfied clients. Presently around more than 30
projects are ongoing Contraction. Today the company operates as a complete professional
construction service using its collective skills and understanding of markets to develop a unique
value proposition to clients.
1.1 Objectives
CHAPTER 2
ABOUT THE CONSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT
Construction Department workers play a vital role in determining the look of films: they are
responsible for building, painting and plastering all the sets required for productions.
They work closely with the Art and Design Department to ensure that the Director's and
the Production Designer's ideas are visually realized on sets.
In addition to excellent craft skills in their chosen field, members of the Construction.
Department must also have strong creative abilities. They are often required to create
structures in a specific period or historical style, or they may be required to distress' their
work, so that it looks worn and lived in rather than brand new. They must have an
excellent working knowledge of all the materials available in their field, combined with
highly developed technical skills, far in advance of those required by traditional
domestic plasterers, painters, scaffolders or carpenters.
The Engineers
Engineer are very important members of the design team who responsibilities are to
assist in the overall design of the project within the scope of their specialist’s field.
Engineers such as geotechnical, structural, electrical, mechanical and well so on carry
out various analysis and calculations before arriving at the optimal design solution for a
specific building thereafter, they will produce drawings, specifications, schedules and
other relevant data that maybe required for the overall design of the project to assist the
quantity surveyor in the preparation of bills of quantities and crofting and the client in
his assessment of the suitability project, regarding statutory requirements. During project
execution stage, engineer should visit the site periodically for inspections to ensure that
in general, the work
being carried out is in compliance with their drawings, schedule, specifications also available
modify or redesign their individual aspects as may become necessary. Also some projects
may require the services of resident engineers on the building project site. The duties of a
project engineer are:
Reviews all preliminary reports including advance planning studies for the
project. Proper shoulder widths, traffic and falseworks clearances, approach
slab status, and adequate stream slow and scour provisions must be verified
prior to developing the general plan.
The Surveyor
The role of construction team member in building projects delivery surveyor is the custodian of
land information. The size, topography, location, features on and beneath land upon which
any development is Built, is determined first buy surveyors. Without this information, no
proper, adequate, effective and accurate planning, design and fusion of execution of building
projects can be carried out.
Transportation Department
This department supplies the survey equipment’s to the construction field. Where the survey is
going to be carried out. This department supplies instrument on time and this department
plays a major role in the construction field of a civil engineering.
Safety was given importance on the site project manager kept a track of Safety methods in
the entire project during the execution. Project manager is used to carry Safety inspections
regular basis. Some of the Safety rules allowed strictly at site were:
Visitors entering the site should strictly where Safety helmets. Also
visitors must be accompanied by the concerned engineer of that
particular area to be visited.
No workman below 14 years or above 65 years of age shall be engaged
for a job. Child labor strictly prohibited.
Eye protective equipment was used by the labor’s engagement activities
such as welding chipping and other jobs that require eye protection.
Hand gloves where were while handling sharp articles, hot
material, corrosive chemical, welding, cutting etc.
Adequate illumination at workplace was ensure before starting the job at
night.
All scaffolding or work platform was made strong enough to take the
expected load.
CHAPTER 3
TASKS PERFORMED ON THE SITE
I have been working with the site engineer at the office and observe various
construction activities on the site. The site engineer is always explaining work performed in
the office and I had observed the works on the site performed by workers. As a new person
to join the site; my first task was getting accustom with the professional workers and other
stakeholders on the site. Aster this I have focused on my activities by ensuring proper
interaction with my site engineer, super v for and other workers. When we visited the
office engineer showed the below documents that are required for the permission to build
the house.
Estimation cost.
Lineout
Excavation.
Staircase construction.
Plastering.
According to the engineering drawing given, mark the center point of a corner column.
Measure the correct distance of column Centre from boundary wall as given in the
drawing. Use a pole or peg to pin it on the cement mortar available on the ground
Take angular setting out – Right angles setting out to mark the next columns on a
straight line. (Use the Pythagoras theorem)
Columns act as vertical support to beam to slabs, and to transmit the loads the foundations.
Columns are the primary compression members, although they may also have to resist
building moment transmitted by beams.
For footing mat is provided. Mesh reinforcement consists of bars 10 mm diameter at spacing
of 6" c/c. Usually bend length provided will be 4".
Column size is 9"x15". The reinforcement provided is 4 bars of 16 mm diameter and 2 bars
of 12 mm diameter. Lateral ties are of 8 mm diameter at spacing of 6"c/c.
Concrete for column will be of grade M20 with mix proportion 1:1.5:3. It means 1bag of
cement, 1.5 bags of sand and 3 bags of aggregates. Usually in site sand and aggregates are
measured in terms of pan. For one bag of cement, 10 pan of sand and 12 pan of aggregates.
Plinth level is a specific height from the ground level at which building superstructure
construction starts
These beams prevent moisture from entering the building from the foundation.
It prevents cracks from the foundation to the wall This prevents the building to
collapse during an earthquake.
To transfer a load of a superstructure to the foundation of the building.
To serve as a retaining wall to prevent the filling part from rising over the higher floor
or building.
To improve the architectural appearance of a building.
To provide stability to the building from all sides
3.2.5. Wall
Walls are the vertical elements on which the roof finally rests. They can be made of different
materials like bricks, stones, mud, concrete blocks, lateritic blocks etc. Is the walls are very
long, columns can be provided to carry the roof.Walls provide privacy and enclosure. Walls
also provide security and protection against natural elements such as wind, rain
BRICK MASONARY
Brick masonry is a highly durable form of construction. It is built by placing bricks in mortar
in a systematic manner to construct solid mass that withstand exerted loads. There are several
types of bricks and number of mortars which can be used to construct brick masonry.
The bond in brick masonry, which adheres bricks together, is produced by filling joints
between bricks with suitable mortar. Special cautions shall be practiced while mortar is mixed
and placed since it greatly affects the performance and durability of masonry structure.
Flemish bond was used in the site and at ratio of 1:6 for the wall 9 inches.
3.2.6 PLASTERING
continuation of a vertical feature beneath the roof such as a fire wall or party
wall. Parapets were originally used to defend buildings from military attack, but today
they are primarily used as guard rails, to conceal rooftop equipment, reduce wind loads
on the roof and to prevent the spread of fires.
