DETERMINATION OF HORIZONTAL CAPACITY OF PILE
For Granular soil and normally loaded clay as per Annex C of IS 2911:2010
N value = 6
K1= Submerged soil range is 1.4-5.0 MN/m3 Assume K1= = 0.500 MN/m3
= 500.000 kN/m3
T= (EI/K1)1/5 = 3.274 m
L1/T= = 0.00
Lf/T= (Refer FIG 4, Annex C of IS 2911:2010) = 1.98
Depth of Fixity(Lf)= = 6.48 m
(L1+Lf)= = 6.48 m
y=(Px2/6EI)*(3L-x) (Elastic equation of cantilever beam)
P= 12.43 kN
y (at top of pile)= 6.00 m
For Fixed head Pile Y = Q(L1+Lf)3/(12EI)
Y = lateral deflection at scour level 1% of pile diameter = 6 mm
Q = Lateral capacity of pile = 49.72 kN
= 5.0 T
Say = 4.5 T
Moment (MF) for fixed head piles, refer Cl No. C-4.2 of IS 2911:2010 MF = Q*(L1+Lf)/2 x m
m = 0.85
MF = 12.399 T-m
