INSTRUCTION
This is a pretty easy project, but you need to use charts to crochet snowflakes.
If you use materials mentioned above, you will get result in a snowflake-cradle with a diameter
of 14 cm (5,5 in) and doll baby 7 cm (2,8 in) high.
All pieces are crocheted in continuous rounds except for a half of snowflake-pocket.

Level:
Beginner/intermediate

Abbreviations:
R - round
sts – stitches
ch - chain stitch
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet for US (double crochet stitch for UK)
dc – double crochet for US (treble crochet stitch for UK)
tr – treble crochet
inc - increase
dec – decrease
dc3tog - dc 3 together
ch-5sc pic - chain 5 sc picot
ch-7sc pic - chain 7 sc picot

Crochet chart key:

- chain
- sl st
- sc
- dc
- tr
- dec(dc)
- dc3tog
- ch-5sc pic
- ch-7sc pic
- (sc, ch-3sc pic, sc) in one st
3
NOTE#1 How to do decrease: insert the hook into the next stitch and yarn over. Pull a loop
through so that there are now 2 loops on the hook. Insert the hook into the next stitch and
yarn over. Pull a loop through so that there are now 3 loops on the hook. Yarn over again and
pull the loop of yarn through all 3 loops on the hook.

NOTE#2 For crocheting of circles - pull the initial thread end out between rounds 2 and 3, it
would serve as the marker and help you to count the rounds.

HEAD

Beige yarn

Round 1: 6 sc into magic ring (6 sts)

R2: (inc) X 6 (12 sts)
R3: (1sc, inc) X 6 (18 sts)
R4: (2sc, inc) X 6 (24 sts)
R5-9 (5 rounds): sc around (24 sts)
R10: (2sc, dec) X 6 (18 sts)
R11: (1sc, dec) X 6 (12 sts)

After R11 stuff the head tightly.

R12: (dec) X 6 (6 sts)
Leave a tail.

In remaining 6 sc sew 6 stitches from inside to outside

in sequence, pull the yarn, secure and hide it.

5
BODY&ARMS

White yarn

First make 2 arms:

Round 1: 6 sc into magic ring (6 sts)
R2: (inc, 2sc) X 2 (8sts)
R3: (inc, 3sc) X 2 (10 sts)
R4-5 (2 rounds): sc around (10 sts)
R6: (dec, 3sc) X 2 (8 sts)
R7-8 (2 rounds): sc around (8 sts)
Make 1 sl st more and leave short tail.

Body:
Round 1: 6 sc into magic ring (6 sts)
R2: (inc) X 6 (12 sts)
R3: (1sc, inc) X 6 (18 sts)
R4: (2sc, inc) X 6 (24 sts)
R5: (inc, 11sc) X 2 (26 sts)
R6: sc around (26 sts)
R7: (inc, 12sc) X 2 (28 sts)
R8-11 (4 rounds): sc around (28 sts)
R12: (dec, 12sc) X 2 (26 sts)
R13: (dec, 11sc) X 2 (24 sts)
R14: (2sc, dec) X 6 (18 sts)
R15-16 (2 rounds): sc around (18 sts)

Now place the one arm closely the body and join them together with 2 sc *. For the arm use
its last stitch and the next following stitch. Work 7 sc and join the second arm with 2 sc, when 7
sc again. Now you have round 17.
R17: (6sc of the arm, 7sc of the body) X 2 (26 sts)

*These inner connecting sс will not be used in the next rounds.

6
R18: (2sc, dec, 2sc, (1sc, dec) X 2, 1sc) X 2 (20 sts)
R19: (dec) X 10 (10 sts)

Fasten and hide the tail.

Stuff the body and arms is not very tight, it should be a little flat.

7
Place the head onto the body, pin it. Note - the initial, neater part of the head will be at the
bottom, where the neck is (the less neat part of the head will be covered by the hair).
Carefully sew on the head with small stitches with white thread (I used same yarn, split in half
to make it thinner).

HAIR

Pale yellow yarn

Round 1: 6 sc into magic ring (6 sts)

R2: inc X 6 (12 sts)
R3: (1sc, inc) X 6 (18 sts), sl st
R4: Now make 18 hair strands:
(16 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook,
14 sc; sl st in next st of R3) X 3,
(17 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook,
15 sc; sl st in next st of R3) X 2,
(18 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook,
16 sc; sl st in next st of R3) X 2,
(19 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 17 sc; sl st in next st of R3) X 4,
(18 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 16 sc; sl st in next st of R3) X 2,
(17 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 15 sc; sl st in next st of R3) X 2,
(16 ch, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 14 sc; sl st in next st of R3) X 3.

8
FACE

Mark the places for the eyes with pins. Embroider the eyes a few stitches with 2-strand black
embroidery thread as shown in the photos.
It is difficult to embroider eyes, it is better to practice beforehand on a piece of cloth.

9
Put the hair on the doll's head, place the four longest strands over the doll's forehead; pin it on
the top of the head. Pin each strand tightly, excluding the 4 strands at the front of the face.
Carefully sew on the hair with thin yellow thread, making a small stitch in each strand; and a few
more stitches on the crown. I made at least three stitches for each strand - bottom, middle and
top, meaning I sewed the strands first with a row of stitches at the bottom, then in the middle and
then the top. Last, the 4 front strands were sewn on the sides of the face.

10
Triple fold the gold thread and use a hook 1 mm to make a chain of 55. Make a ring from it
by tying the ends together. Put the ring on the doll's head and pin it with pins.
Tuck the protruding ends of the thread into a thick needle and hide them inside the head.
Using a single gold thread, sew the ring to the doll's head using small stitches.

11
SNOWFLAKE-CRADLE
White yarn
The snowflake cradle is made of two snowflakes - a base snowflake and a lace snowflake,
which is sewn onto the base snowflake; and a convex half of the snowflake, which forms a
pocket in which the baby sits.
Be sure to check the charts when crocheting all the snowflakes!

BASE SNOWFLAKE:
Make chain of 5, join the chain into a ring with a sl st. In all subsequent rounds, also join
them into the ring at the end with sl st.
Round 1: 3ch, (ch, 2dc) X 5, ch, dc (17 sts+3ch)
R2: 3ch, (ch, 4dc) X 5, ch, 3dc (29 sts+3ch)
R3: 3ch, (ch, 6dc) X 5, ch, 5dc (41 sts+3ch)
R4: 3ch, (ch, 8dc) X 5, ch, 7dc (53 sts+3ch)
R5: 3ch, (ch, 10dc) X 5, ch, 9dc (65 sts+3ch)
R6: 3ch, (ch, 12dc) X 5, ch, 11dc (77 sts+3ch)
Make sl st more and make 6 triangles:
Row7: 3ch, 10dc, dec(dc) (11 sts+3ch)
Row8: 3ch, 8dc, dec(dc) (9 sts+ 3ch)
Row9: 3ch, 6dc, dec(dc) (7 sts+ 3ch)
Row10: 3ch, 4dc, dec(dc) (5 sts+ 3ch)
Row11: 3ch, 2dc, dec(dc) (3 sts+ 3ch)
Row12: 3ch, dec(dc) (1 sts+ 3ch)
Row13: 2ch, sc, and 11 sc, sl st along the side of the triangle.
The edge of the base snowflake is crocheted with sc (2sc in each st, 2dc at the tips of the
triangles) with golden thread using a hook 1 mm.

12
LACE SNOWFLAKE:
This snowflake and the following half-snowflake can only be made according to the chart.
The amount of sts in the rows is not counted.
Make chain of 5, join the chain into a ring with a sl st. In all subsequent rounds, also join
them into the ring at the end with sl st.
Round 1: 3ch, (ch, dc) X 11, ch.
R2: ch, (6ch, sc) X 5, 3ch, dc.
R3: ch, (3ch, dc, 3ch, sc) X 5, 3ch, dc, 3ch, sl st.
R4: 3ch, 3dc, [(tr, 5ch, tr) in one st, 7dc] X 5,
(tr, 5ch, tr) in one st, 3dc.
R5: ch, [(dc, ch-5sc pic) X 3, tr, (ch-5sc pic, ch-7sc pic, ch-5sc pic; join all the 3 picots into a ring
with sl st at the top of the tr), (ch-5sc pic, dc) X 3,
(sc, ch-3sc pic, sc) in one st] X 6.
Hide the yarn tail inside the snowflake.

13
CONVEX HALF OF SNOWFLAKE:
Make chain of 11, start in 3rd ch from hook:
Row1: sc, 2dc, 2tr, 2dc, 2sc.
Row2: 3ch, (dc, ch) X 9, inc(dc).
Row3: (6ch, sc) X 5, 3ch, dc.
Row4: ch, (3ch, dc, 3ch, sc) X 5.
Row5: 3ch, 3dc, (tr, 5ch, tr) in one st, 4dc, dc3tog X 2, 3dc, (tr, 5ch, tr) in one st, 3dc, dc3tog X 2,
4dc, (tr, 5ch, tr) in one st, 4dc.
Row6: (ch, ch-3sc pic, sc) in one st, [(dc, ch-5sc pic) X 3, tr, (ch-5sc pic, ch-7sc pic, ch-5sc pic;
join all the 3 picots into a ring with sl st at the top of the tr), (ch-5sc pic, dc) X 3,
(dc, ch-5sc pic, dc) in one st] X 2, [(dc, ch-5sc pic) X 3, tr, (ch-5sc pic, ch-7sc pic, ch-5sc pic; join
all the 3 picots into a ring with sl st at the top of the tr), (ch-5sc pic, dc) X 3, (sc, ch-3sc pic, sc)
in one st.
Turn the crocheting sideways and work a row along the "trimmed" side of the snowflake.
Row7: 5dc, (ch, dc) X 7, ch, 5dc, sl st.

14
Gently iron the snowflakes through the damp fabric. Place the lace snowflake on top of the
base snowflake, pin, and using fine white thread (I used the same yarn split in half), sew along
the all diagonals and all edges with small stitches. Iron the snowflake again.
Place the snowflake half on top of the main snowflake, matching the edges, pin it. Also sew
with small stitches along the entire edge.
Make a loop on the top triangle of the base snowflake (I made the loop with the gold thread).

15
Your delicate Angel baby is ready! Congratulations!
