Norwegian Cruise Line to Offer 1,000 New Staterooms for Solo Travelers
As solo travel becomes more popular Norwegian Cruise Line is adapting

[MIAMI, Oct. 3, 2023] - David Herrera, Norwegian’s president, announced that the company
will be adding nearly 1,000 staterooms for solo travelers throughout its different fleets.

As solo travel becomes increasingly desired, cruise lines are adapting to meet consumer needs. In
the release on Tuesday, Herrera said, “We are continuously listening to our guests to deliver the
experience they want.” Studies within the travel industry have shown an increase in solo tourism.
More specifically, 18 percent of recent global bookings have been by single-party travelers, and
Norwegian Cruise Line themselves have had a positive response from customers who desired to
go solo on their trips.

The new Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview, and Solo Balcony staterooms will begin to be available
on a rolling basis on ships departing Jan. 2, 2024 and after. Travelers will have access to
amenities such as a Studio Lounge with food and beverages, as well as daily activities provided
by NCL. Depending on the selected ship, customers may travel on routes to Asia, Australia, New
Zealand, and Africa. Customers can expect to pay less than a standard double stateroom for the
new solo staterooms. Availability and pricing will continue to vary based on destination and
demand. Additionally, Oceania Cruises, another cruise line that is part of Norwegian Cruise Line
Holdings Ltd., will launch a new ship called the Oceania Vista with six staterooms dedicated to
solo travel. Norwegian plans to add solo staterooms to all of their luxury ships and will continue
to announce new solo rooms.
