WARNING: THE MSN FILTER SHALL ONLY BE APPLIED FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE STRUCTURAL PARTS.
THE VALIDITY OF THE SRM CHAPTER 51, ALLOWABLE DAMAGE LIMITS, REPAIRS AND STRUCTURAL REPAIR INSP
ECTIONS SHALL BE RETRIEVED DIRECTLY IN THE DATA UNITS.
1. General
A. Introduction
This Chapter gives the required procedure and equipment to support the aircraft during repairs or modification, when it is neces
sary to reduce stresses in the repaired or modified area to a minimum. Either the complete aircraft or part only may require to
be supported.
NOTE: This procedure is only to be used when called up in a specific AIRBUS repair instruction or modification. The repair inst
ruction will specify the actual loads and location for the jacks and supports to be used.
B. Additional information
Refer to the Aircraft Maintenance Manual AMM Chapter 07-11-00 for the maintenance jacking procedure including the pos
(1) itioning of the tail jack.
(2) Refer to the AMM Chapter 08-20-00 for aircraft levelling information.
(3) Refer to the AMM Chapter 28-25-00 for the aircraft defuelling procedure.
(4) Refer to the AMM Chapter 05-57-00 to obtain the required aircraft stability state when the work is to be done outside.
(5) Refer to the drawing reference 98D07203016 for the global shoring/jacking position and tooling information.
WARNING: JACKING OUTSIDE IS NOT AUTHORIZED FOR REPAIRS OR MAJOR STRUCTURAL MODIFICATIONS DUE
TO WEATHER CONDITIONS (ESPECIALLY WIND STRENGTH).
A. When the hangar has a "purpose built" floor that is stable it is only necessary to minimize the temperature changes.
When the hangar floor is not "purpose built" or it is unstable it will be necessary to use metal plates under the jacks to spread t
he load over the floor. These metal plates should be made from alloy steel and be thick and large enough to bear the loads. Tem
B. perature changes must also be minimized.
A. All requests to AIRBUS from Airlines for specific jacking instruction should give the following information.
NOTE: To define the general status of the A/C, the different points to be checked are:
Tasks to be done, repairs, SB number, C-check, ....
Determine the feasibility of the jacking. That means to determine the jacking points usable to work free and eas
y.
Plan logistic, surrounding (hangar, external conditions, ...), large items to remove (landing gear, engines, vertica
l stabilizers, seats, galleys and toilets ...).
The definition of the general status permit the supply of jacks, cradles, load cells, ....
The precise status of the A/C, including a list of items that will be removed, remaining fuel quantity and location (Refer to
Paragraph 6. A/C configuration sheet). This is necessary in order to define the weight and the Center of Gravity (C of G) s
(3) ituation and the load values to be applied on each jack during the planned work.
A list of special tools on site would be of assistance to AIRBUS in preparing a specific jacking instruction for the Airline re
(4) quest.
NOTE: The specific jacking instruction given by AIRBUS is only valid for a specific configuration of the A/C and for a spe
cific list of tasks/repairs applied on this A/C. If either of these need to change, contact AIRBUS to modify the sp
ecific jacking instruction.
NOTE: Please consider the removal of relevant belly fairing panels if shoring of the A/C on FR42 is required.
WARNING: DURING ALL THE JACKING OPERATION AND THE WORKING PARTY, MAKE SURE THAT THE LOADS APPLIED A

KING INSTRUCTION. IF THE LOADS ARE EXCEEDED, CONTACT AIRBUS PRIOR TO MODIFYING THE JACKING.
AT THE SAME TIME, CHECK THAT GOOD CONTACTS ARE MAINTAINED BETWEEN THE AIRCRAFT, THE JACKIN
G TOOLS AND THE GROUND (REFER TO THE RELEVANT TOPIC.)
A. Jacking method
The following jacking method is a general procedure. Refer to AIRBUS specific jacking instruction for additional information.
Lift the A/C on the jacks at points A, B1 and B2. Afterwards install the safety stay at point "C" to ensure good stability an
(1) d safe working conditions. (Refer to AMM Chapter 07-11-00 for jacking and Refer to AMM Chapter 08-20-00 for leveling).
(2) Remove plugs from A/C at jacking points mentioned in AIRBUS specific jacking instruction.
(3) Install the jacking fittings on the A/C at these jacking points.
Use colored adhesive tape to mark the outline of any cradles (which do not bolt to the structure) on the applicable fusela
(4) ge, wing, and/or stabilizer locations.
Monitor for any shift of the cradles outside of these outlines while the aircraft is jacked.
Position the jacks or cradles under all jacking points mentioned in the AIRBUS specific jacking instruction. Use the adjusta
(5) ble pads to stabilize the jacks on the ground (jack wheels have to be free).
NOTE: If a valve is installed between the load cell and the gauge, check it is opened. In the case of a closed valve, the
gauge do not register the applied load and the A/C may be overloaded.
(7) Operate the jacks or cradles in order to put them in contact with the A/C jacking points.
(8) Position an operator in front of each jacking point used as well as it jacking point C (safety jack). The operator must cons
tantly check of the load applied (given on the load cell indicator) while operating the jack or cradle.
NOTE: To do the jacking, you must apply the jacking loads in four steps as indicated in the AIRBUS specific jacking inst
ruction. When using with four load cell indicators, the value on each load cell must be equal to the load value giv
en by Airbus and divided by 4. When using a tool between the load cell and the jacking point, take into account
the tool weight.
CAUTION: DURING THE FOLLOWING STEPS, MAKE SURE THAT THE LOADS APPLIED AT THE END OF EACH STEP A
RE WITHIN TOLERANCES GIVEN IN THE AIRBUS SPECIFIC JACKING INSTRUCTION.
(9) Step 1: At jacking point C (safety jack), apply the load given in the Airbus specific jacking instruction for this step.
Then apply the loads, simultaneously and progressively, indicated for this step in the AIRBUS specific jacking instruction f
or each jacking point. Do the adjustment at jacking point C (safety jack) at the same time, in order to keep the load withi
n tolerances given in the AIRBUS specific jacking instruction.
Wait 5 minutes when all the jacking points loads given in this step are applied, in order to stabilize the loads on jacks or c
radles and on ground. Adjust if necessary and perform the following step.
Steps 2, 3 and 4: Follow the same procedure as in step 1 with the loads given in the AIRBUS specific jacking instruction f
(10) or these steps.
Wait 5 minutes in order to stabilize the loads on jacks or cradles and on ground. Adjust if necessary. Keep a record of all t
he values on the load cells (applied loads and remaining loads at nose jack, main jacks and safety jack (if used) should b
e made when the step 4 loads are stabilized. In addition a record should also be made of the time and temperature withi
(11) n the hangar. This will be used as a reference in case of discrepancies during the zero stress jacking.
CAUTION: IN CASE OF A MAJOR LOAD DISCREPANCY (MORE THAN +/-10%) OCCURRING DURING THE WORKING PART
Y, CONTACT AIRBUS. DO NOT OPERATE THE JACKS OR CRADLES.
NOTE: Check at the same time that good contact is maintained between A/C, jacking tools and ground (Refer to Paragraph 2.

C. Dejacking method
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE LOADS APPLIED ON EACH JACKING POINT NEVER EXCEED THE MAXIMUM PERM
ISSIBLE LOAD GIVEN IN THE AIRBUS SPECIFIC JACKING INSTRUCTION.
(1) Position an operator in front of each jacking point in order to control the loads applied.
Increase loads on jacking points A, B1 and B2 to decrease the loads on the specific jacking points from values given in st
(2) ep 4 of the AIRBUS specific jacking instruction in four steps to zero (the other way round as given for jacking).
CAUTION: THE SAFETY STAY AT POINT C MUST BE REMOVED PRIOR TO LOWERING THE AIRCRAFT.
(3) Remove all jacks, cradles, load cells and adapters, except those of jacking points A, B1, B2 and C.
(4) Remove the jacking fittings from the A/C at each additional jacking point.
Install all jacking point plug (Refer to IPC Chapter 53-16-01, Figure 35, IPC 53-26-01, Figure 35 and IPC 53-56-01, Figur
(5) e 40).
