Mr. Guillermo Pagod has been the Department Manager of the operations department for the past
10 years. Being the operations manager, of course he has full authority and support from the top
management when implementing employee discipline. However lately, Mr. Guillermo Pagod is no
longer implementing discipline to his employees because as he said: it’s a waste of time and
effort to me.”
Questions:
1. Why is Mr. Guillermo Pagod reluctant now to use discipline because as what he mentioned –

As Francisco Maculit, Machine Shop Supervisor, was walking around inspecting helmet while doing
some electric welding job. This was the third time that the workers in his work unit discovered that
Pedro Tigasulo was not using the prescribed Pedro has violated this safety requirement. First time,
Pedro was just told to use the helmet. Last week, Pedro was given a written reprimand for the same
offense.
