BACKGROUND The Repair and Innovation of WASH in Schools project aims to
AND address the critical need for improved water, sanitation, and hygiene
RATIONALE facilities in schools. Access to clean water, proper sanitation, and
hygiene practices is essential for promoting the health, well-being,
and educational outcomes of students. However, many schools face
challenges in providing adequate WASH facilities, leading to negative
impacts on student health, attendance, and overall learning
environments.

Repair and innovation are crucial to revitalizing WASH infrastructure

in schools. Existing facilities may be outdated, damaged, or
insufficient to meet the demands of a growing student population. By
repairing and upgrading these facilities, we can ensure that students
have access to clean water, functional toilets, and appropriate
handwashing stations. Moreover, innovative solutions can be
introduced to optimize water and energy usage, enhance hygiene
practices, and create a sustainable and environmentally friendly
WASH system.

This project recognizes the urgent need to promote WASH practices

that go beyond mere repairs. It seeks to modernize facilities and
practices to align with 21st-century standards and technology. By
integrating innovative solutions, such as water-saving fixtures,
renewable energy sources, and smart monitoring systems, we can
create a more efficient and cost-effective WASH infrastructure.

Additionally, the Repair and Innovation of WASH in Schools project

aims to raise awareness and advocate for the importance of proper
sanitation and hygiene in schools. By providing students with clean
and hygienic environments, we can reduce the risk of waterborne
diseases, improve attendance rates, and enhance overall well-being.
Through partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including
government bodies, NGOs, and local communities, we can leverage
resources and expertise to ensure the sustainability and long-term
success of the project.
