Techlabs' Software Integration Solutions
Software Integration solutions and services offered by Techlabs are built around its multi-modular
software tool Tech-Gration. Power Distribution and Transmission utilities have begun to attach a
significant value with Tech-Gration for its capability to interface their intelligent electronic maps
with world’s most popular electric utility network planning software Cyme, allowing them to handle
better their daily operations including maintenance of electronic maps, outage management,
electronic field design and editing, engineering planning, customer service, marketing and
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).

Techlabs’ unique ability to fully integrate existing and future systems seamlessly means utilities
don’t have to give up tried and true systems in order to realize the benefits of GIS technology.
Existing systems aren’t replaced. Instead they are enhanced with new access to a wealth of
information not previously available. Plus, Techlabs ensures a smooth transition with no interruption
of service or loss of data integrity during the changeover.

Tech-Gration family of software modules offers integration of Cyme with a variety of other software:

Tech-Gration/GIS
Geographical Information System
Interface for Cyme Network Planning
Software

One of the biggest challenges for distribution system

engineers is to have a complete, up-to-date network
model to work with. The Tech-Gration solution eases
the technical complexity that distribution system
engineers have to face in gathering and integrating
relevant system data into a single network model. It
extracts the required information and builds the most
complete network possible for the CYME software,
on demand or automatically.

Tech-Gration extracts all necessary information

from your GIS and Other enterprise systems to
automatically generate up-to-date and accurate
distribution network models, ready for planning
and operational studies executed with the Cyme
Software

TECH-GRATION also offers various

optional features:

• Extract further complementary network

information - Secondary network grids, low-
voltage distribution systems, substations,
load information, etc.
• Calculates network equivalents
• Performs load allocation with feeder
demands
• Provides tools to help improve data quality.
• Built-in facility to validate the network
model with respect to both GIS and power
engineering rules
• Creates log files & error report for the
networks which could not be extracted

The TECH-GRATION has been designed and

optimized for CYME Distribution Network Planning
Software. It uses the proprietary Manipulation
Engine technology developed by Techlabs. It can
extract hundreds of feeders from the GIS and from
other systems to CYMDIST in a matter of hours.

Tech-Gration/TEA
Techno-economic analysis module for Cyme Network Planning
Software

Electric Network Planning engineers have always appreciated the flexibility of power
distribution network planning software like Cyme to suggest more than one solution to an
identified problem or limitation in the power network, related to its efficiency, reliability
or the quality of power delivered. However, even as an engineer harbors an inclination
for the option with highest technical rating, prudence demands a rationalized approach
which reflects a balance between the technical benefits and the financial encumbrances
associated with each recommendation the network planning software has made.

Tech-Gration addresses this predicament effectively with its techno-economic analysis

module that seamlessly plugs into Cyme network planning software as a decision support
system involving financial appraisal of each recommended modification or augmentation
in the network and thus establishing the return-on-investment.
A cost can be associated to any modification to the power system model, including
economic parameters such as operation and maintenance cost, salvage value, time-
based depreciation etc.

Tech-Gration can draw the requisite details from a variety of sources like including the
price lists with the Purchase/Contracts division of the power utility or sophisticated facility
like ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.

Tech-Gration/MDAS
Meter Data Acquisition System
Interface for Cyme Network Planning
Software

MDAS feeder meter readings are used for

performing load flow analysis on respective
feeders using this interface. Each feeder
meter data (reading) (Amp & PF, for different
phases) at the same time of peak power
requirement of respective feeder should be
used for performing Load Allocation on these
feeders based on connected KVA. The MDAS
sends the request along with data required for
network analyses. The results of the network
analyses are published back to MDAS.

ETL - Extract, Transform & Load

Tech-Gration extracts relevant network
data from GIS database, transfers GIS Data
into CYME Data Model and then loads the
CYME Data Model into CYME Database.
Extracting from GIS (Oracle, SQL, etc.) and
other enterprise systems to CYME databases in
Oracle or Microsoft Access database format,
Tech-Gration can work in batch mode or on
demand from the Configuration Tool
