A common mistake is to believe
that the present simple serves to
talk about the actions or situations
TIP that occur at the precise moment
in which it is spoken. This is
incorrect. For these situations the
present continuous is used

With the third person singular (she/he/it),
we add an –s
With verbs whose ending is –o, -sh, -ch, -
ss, -x, -z, –es is added

TO RELAX HE RELAXES
Verbs ending in –y the last letter is
changed to –i + -es

Verbs ending in –y have another
exception. If before that last letter there is
a vowel, the –y is preserved and at the
end is added –s

TO ENJOY SHE ENJOYS
The auxiliary of the third person is DOES.

The verb to be is irregular, so being one of the
most used it's advisable to learn all its forms

Modal verbs (can, must, may) have two
exceptions
WE DON'T ADD -S OR -ES

Wrong: Your cat cans jump between trees


Correct: Your cat can jump between trees

Wrong: She musts be in her office


Correct: She must be in her office

Wrong: He mays help you tomorrow


Correct: He may help you tomorrow
Negative and interrogative forms do not use
auxiliary do/does, but themselves

CAN

Negative: Your cat can not jump between trees


Interrogative: Can your cat jump between trees?
MUST

Negative: She must not be in her office


Interrogative: Must she be in her office?
MAY

Negative: He may not help you tomorrow


Interrogative: May he help you tomorrow?
