● What is your own idea of reading and reading comprehension?

Reading and reading comprehension are foundational skills that play a pivotal role in
shaping our intellectual development and cognitive abilities. Reading is not merely a
mechanical process of decoding words; it is a dynamic interaction between the reader
and the text, where meaning is constructed, interpreted, and internalized. Reading
comprehension, on the other hand, involves a higher level of cognitive engagement,
requiring readers to not only understand the literal meaning of the text but also to
analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information to derive deeper insights.

The act of reading opens doors to new worlds, ideas, and perspectives, fostering
imagination, empathy, and critical thinking. Through reading, individuals can transcend
the boundaries of time and space, immersing themselves in different cultures, historical
events, and philosophical debates. Reading comprehension, as a cognitive skill, enables
readers to navigate the complexities of language, discern underlying themes, and extract
key information from the text. It empowers individuals to make connections, draw
inferences, and engage critically with the material presented.

In today's fast-paced and information-driven society, the ability to read and

comprehend effectively is more important than ever. Reading not only enriches our
minds but also enhances our communication skills, analytical thinking, and problem-
solving abilities. By honing our reading comprehension skills, we sharpen our cognitive
faculties, expand our knowledge base, and cultivate a lifelong love for learning.
Ultimately, reading and reading comprehension are not just academic pursuits; they are
essential tools for personal growth, intellectual enrichment, and societal progress.
