Good enough first became interested in figure drawing when she wanted to find a way to
supplement the Stanford-Binet intelligence test with a nonverbal measure.
In 1949, Karen Machover developed the first measure of figure drawing as a personality
assessment.
HFD test requires the subject to draw a human figure. The results are based on
a psychodynamic interpretation of the details of the drawing, such as the size, shape and
complexity of the facial features, clothing and background of the figure.
