Deep breathing and relaxation techniques
Breathing techniques can encourage us to do deep breathing
exercises where we Inhale deeply through the nose, hold for a few
seconds, and then exhale slowly through the mouth. This helps
activate the body's relaxation response and can help calm the nervous
system and reduce anxiety levels.
Shift your worries with Positive Self-talk
Negative Self-Talk Positive Self-Talk
I’ve never done it before. I don’t know how to do it. It’s a chance to learn something new. I can learn.

It’s too complicated/ hard. I’ll mess it up. I can figure it out. I’ve overcome tougher
challenges.

Other people can do it better. Someone else I look for the bright side of things. I deserve to win.
should do it. I’m always improving.

I don’t have the time, resources, or experience. I am resourceful and others will help me.

I tried before and didn’t succeed. It looks stressful. I enjoy adapting and growing with change.

It won’t work. I’ll come up with an answer.

I am not good enough I trust myself to succeed.

Think, Pair, & Share
Here are some things to discuss…

1. Reflect on the coping skills discussed. Which ones resonated

with you the most and why?
2. Share and compare your coping strategies with a partner.
Are there any similarities or differences? How effective do
you find each other’s strategies?
3. Discuss about one coping skill that you have not tried before
but are interested in implementing. How do you think it
might help you manage stress or anxiety differently?
