Lesson idea implementation:


As I address the standards, I will have the student say there I can statements so they understand what
we will be learning. Having them say the standard helps their minds get ready to what we are about to
do. To access the student’s prior knowledge, I will ask them if they know anything about a president.
They don’t have to answer, they can show me by a thumbs up if they do and a thumbs down for no.
This will give me a visual if I would need to go more in-dept with a few things to make sure everyone
understands by the end of the lesson. The way I would assess learning in the classroom would be to
see how engaged each student is with the activity and the way they answer the questions. I would
conclude the lesson by asking the students what’s their favorite fact about a president.

Managing student learning:


The Padlet that I have created will cause a shift in the students’ behavior from passive to active social
learners. One example would be during the hook I would get the students to talk to each other and
brainstorm on who that person in the picture might be. They can even answer the question in pairs if
they wanted to. A second example would be during the assessment the students will be talking to each
other as they play that game. Now a time where they are on task would be when they are watching the
BrainPOP video by themselves before they have their discussions. This will also happen when the
students are finish drawing their own summaries and are ready to show what they did.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
In the Engagement part of UDL, my learning activity supports the fostering of collaboration and
community. The students are discussing their opinions and there thinking process in my learning
activity. In the Representation part of UDL, my learning activity supports the perception part where I
offer alternatives for visual information. This is shown by the BrainPOP video, the pictures, and the
article that are in my activity. In the Action and Expression part of UDL, my learning activity
supports the use of multiple tools for construction and composition. Just like in the Representation
part, all the different medias I put in my activity help the student construct the opinions.
Reflective Practice:
I do believe that the Padlet helps students build an understand in a way that traditional tools couldn’t.
My reason would be that Padlet lets the student have everything in reach so its less confusing for the
students. The students don’t have to look through pages and page of information to help them find
their answers. It also improves the student technology skill by teaching them to use different outlets. I
can’t wait to use Padlet in my future classroom to help me stay organized.
