ACTIVITY 8: My Speech! Write a speech addressed to Corazon Aquino and Benigno Aquino,
Jr. It can be a commendation or criticism of their political contributions to the Philippines. You
may also use the speech to raise questions you would like to ask them.

Corazon :Cojuangco” Aquino or know as Cory Aquino she emphasized the importance of the
EDSA revolution in terms of being “limited revolution that respected the life and freedom of the
Filipino.” And I think it is a must, we need to have voice to say what we want to happen here in
our country. Her peace agenda involves political initiatives and re-integration program to
persuade insurgents to leave countryside and return to the mainstream society to participate in
the restoration of democracy. And every time that she went to U.S she met poor people and
unemployed Filipino willing to offer their lives to democracy. In the history, Cory Aquino’s
speech was so diplomatic because she talks about her family background and her late husband,
Ninoy Aquino. Benigno Aquino Jr., was the youngest correspondent to cover the Korean war for
the Manila Times of Don Joaquin “Chino” Roces, after watching the video of Corazon C.
Aquino I just realized that she really love her family because she even talk about also her late
husband on how Ninoy Aquino handle the Philippines before when he still alive. Cory was able
to capture the imagination of the people whose rights and freedom had long been compromised
throughout the Marcos regime. This is despite the fact that Cory came from a rich haciendero
family in Tarlac and owned vast estates of sugar plantations and whose relatives occupy local
and national government positions. Cory’s peace agenda involves political initiatives and re-
integration programs to persuade insurgents to leave the countryside and return to the
mainstream society to participate in the restoration of democracy. I must say that she did it to
fought for her husband, to continue everything that already start.
