I. PROJECT TITLE:

Printing the future: Empowering STEM Education with cutting-edge

technology

II. RATIONALE:

The absence of desktop units and printers in classrooms can be a major obstacle for

students, especially those in STEM classes. Without these essential tools, students

may struggle to complete assignments, conduct research, or participate in class

activities. This can lead to frustration and poor academic performance, which can

have long-term consequences for students. By providing printers and desktop units

to schools that lack these resources, we can help to level the playing field and

ensure that all students have access to the tools they need to succeed. The legal

basis for this project proposal is the Republic Act No. 10533, also known as the

Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013. This law aims to provide every student

with quality education that is accessible, relevant, and liberating. The law

recognizes the importance of technology in education and mandates the integration

of ICT in the curriculum 1. By providing printers and desktop units to schools, we

can help to fulfill this mandate and provide students with the tools they need to

succeed. Research findings suggest that access to technology can have a significant

impact on student achievement. A report by UNESCO found that the learner-to-

computer ratio at the primary and secondary level of education in the Philippines is

412:1 and 49:1, respectively(Nadeem, 2020). This means that many students do not

have access to the latest technology, which can put them at a disadvantage. Studies
have found that students perform better in terms of both comprehension and

retention when material is presented in print (Amadora,2022). Computers and

information technology have become key to educational institutions worldwide

(Hsu and Huang, 2006). A study conducted by the National Bureau of Economic

Research found that providing students with access to computers and the internet at

home led to significant improvements in test scores (ERIC - Education Resources

Information Center, n.d.). Another study found that access to technology can help to

improve student engagement and motivation (Umali, n.d). Based on these findings,

we recommend that schools provide students with access to printers and desktop

units to help them succeed in STEM classes.

III. Objectives

The objective of this project is to provide students in STE and STEM classes with

access to printers and desktop units, so that they can complete assignments and

conduct research with need of encoding. By providing these essential tools, we

hope to improve the quality of education for students in STE and STEM classes and

help them to achieve their full potential.

IV. Strategies

The proponents will write a formal request letter to the school principal, asking for an

opportunity to present a proposal that involves sharing information relevant to the project.

The main goal is to get the school principal’s approval of the proposal. Once approved,

the necessary administrative step is to get the school principal’s signature on the

document, which confirms the endorsement of the project.

After getting the school principal’s approval, they will reach out to community officials,

such as Local Government Unit (LGU), Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU), and

SK officials. This comprehensive approach ensures that the project has the support and

alignment of both school and community leaders. If the LGU and BLGU approve the

proposal, the proponents will try to ask for extra financial assistance from some of the

business sectors in Margosatubig such as Canon Printing Shop.
