Research Analysis Reflection 3

Throughout this research analysis I learned how to collect information from various
resources and find a way to connect them to one another. Structuring my sources all together
while utilizing the differences I have found to create a perspective in my writing. While putting
this essay together, I learned that it is not as easy to find sources that are backed up by evidence
My research analysis forced me to search the web past google. I have not clicked past
sources from the TAMIU Library like I have for this assignment. It is rare that out of thousands
of sources I was not able to find what I needed specifically using the university's library. With
sources that have come up I had to find the sources that the artifacts used. Amongst resources
that others have used I also had to search people's credibility. While there were not many news
articles on my topic, there were many research papers on what the differences are and what the
majority of people prefer. I did not want to use a source that was not credible or just made up and
said out loud. I had to ensure that the people writing these articles knew what they were talking
Learning how to research and read laterally to ensure I am using reliable resources can be
applied in the rest of my courses. Every class has at least one assignment on writing, even my
math class. This is the reason why knowing how to shuffle through false news and non supported
claims can strengthen my argument. While using this assignment I also learned how to cite

government owned websites, this can also translate into any writing assignment I will have in the
future.
I was able to find noticeable improvements from being able to analyze the visual
elements in text to help me portray and describe my claim. It is one thing to cite a source and
copy a quote; however, being able to form a foundation on top of a reliable source leads to a
strong claim that can not be easily pushed aside. I believe being more detailed as to how a source
I was able to improve my writing from the comments I received from my peers. My peers
helped me realize that I was not considering my audience. I was broud with my claims and did
not take my readers through every step of my claim. I had a weakness of communicating to my
readers. I assumed that they should have known as much as I do about business and would skim
over some important points that my audience would get lost in. Detailing more information for
my reader was the first change I made to ensure a smooth and easy read. This was definitely a
The comments I received from my professor did not contain any negative feedback. Most
of which was my choice of words for my audience. Such as including how my sources claimed
that teachers can not help a student outside of class time and how teachers are not likely to know
you past a student. While this can be true through basic level classes, my professor informed me
that as I progress though my major class sizes will shrink and 1 to 1 time will be more accessible
and prominent in the classroom setting. While I may have known this before, my reader could
believe I was in agreement with my sources. This is due to the fact that I did not clarify where
my statement was coming from. Other comments I had were on my sentence structure. While I
have received these in the past I do not think I can just get rid of this problem. It will take me

time to learn through it and I believe I may get some more comments about this in my future
essays. Either way I have to use each comment as a stepping stone to becoming a better writer.
During the process of writing this analysis I had the initial challenge of finding my
sources. Once I found reliable sources through the TAMIU Library and looking into those
sources cited I gained the idea of what to search. My next challenge had to be clarifying my
writing in order to make the process for my reader easier. I did not want to lose my audience
because this would present a lack of credibility or retention for attention. On the other hand I felt
that the topic became a point of interest and I wanted to find what people believe is the benefit to
a teacher or a mentor. My connection to my research had to have been the least challenging part
of my writing process and I did get a comment mentioning that my passion for business passed
on my writing.
My writing identity has grown throughout this assignment for all the reasons above. I
I have learned how to research, use SIFT to find credible sources, searched laterally, and
included my audience into my writing. I have steadily grown throughout this course and am
