1.1 Brief description of the project
Proposed construction harvest centre of excellence for grains at strategic market centre, is project carried out by
Republic of Tanzania under ministry of agriculture it financed by African Development Bank(ADB) and global agriculture
construction a strategic market, agro-processing and transfer centre at Mtanana B,Kongwa District in Dodoma .
The project is dealing with building work in lot 3 that involve several building such as canteen, laundry, hostel,
residential and training centre building .Also within the construction we are selectively painting, electrical system,
aluminium window work, screaming and works which are within the building area ,environmental policies that will be
determining the appropriate level of environmental and social mitigation for the project and its proposed components
during the development and operation phases

1.2 Objectives of the report


The objectives of this monthly ESHS implementation performance report include review of potential environmental,
social, health, and safety risks and impacts associated with the project activities implemented by the contractor and
ensure that the intervention does not carry any environmental, social, health, and safety risks and impacts to the nearby
biophysical and social environment.
Also it provides a practical plan to manage the potential environmental and social unintended negatives impacts
associates with the project activities as we as to allow with meaningful and inclusive mult-stakeholder consultations
and engagement throughout the lifecycle of the project within a specific month.
It sets the environment and social conditions that shall be abode by BHL in the course of implementation of construction
of the proposed construction of post-harvest centre of the excellence for the grains at strategic market centre, it aim at
ensuring effective implementation of the, mitigation and enhancement measures are achieved.

1.3 Scope
This report covers the main ESHS activities conducted by the contractor, and the outcomes of these activities during
the reporting period with the month as the following
➢ To provide and show the mitigation measure took on month by contractor
➢ Housekeeping overview on month
➢ Implementation of health tradition at workplace within the month
➢ Environmental and social management within the month
➢ To provide description of the relevant parts including project location, design, component and activities.
➢ To overview policies, legislation, standard, regulation governing environmental international, region and local
level
➢ To assemble, evaluate and presenting base line data on the relevant environmental and social characteristics
of the project area

2.STATUS OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL IMPLEMENTATION OF IMPACTS MANAGEMENT MEASURES
TO DATE WITHIN THE MONTH
2.1 Environmental, social, health and safety management issues
2.1.1 Air pollution control measures
a) Open fire is restricted on site
b) Using recycling option on used materials
c) Using environmentally friendly tools and materials
2.1.2 Water pollution control measures.
a) Monitoring and improving water waste on site
b) Domestic water on site are directed to septic tanks.
2.1.3 Noise pollution measures.
a) All machines and plants are switched off when they are not in use.
b) Workers wearing appropriate PPE that prevent hearing loss during the work. E.g ear plug.
2.1.4 Waste management.
a) Recycling of waste and reuse of waste on other work.
b) Waste are collected and isolation is done depending on their nature and dumped at dumping area which
presented on site.
2.1.5 Emergence preparedness and response.
a) Fire extinguishers are available on site and maintained.
b) There are clear escape routes for emergencies.
c) Regularly provision of education and training for emergence response.
d) First aid service are available on site always.
2.1.6 Sanitary facility maintenance.
a) All sanitary facilities which available on site keeping in hygienic conditions such as toilets and canteens are
kept in a good hygienic condition.
b) Providing of safe and clean drinking water at site.

2.2.2 Employment status


A contractor has both skilled and unskilled workers among of them there are expertise and local from Tanzania.

3.CAPACITY BUILDING

3.1Stakeholders engagement
A contractor has a good relationship with all stakeholders, sometime village stakeholders invited to attend on monthly
progress meeting and discuss different matters with village government and supporting each other.

3.2 Benefit and liver hood improvement


Through the project helps residents obtain employment, improvement of the life standard, increasing
of population, friendship, growth of internal economic income within the area.
3.3 Grievance Redresses Mechanism (GRM):
NB: On April there was no any grievance from stakeholders and workers

4 ADMINISTRATIVE AND APPLICABLE REQUIREMENTS
4.1 ANY CHANGES OCCURED
No any change in terms of applicable requirement on environmental and social related personnel,
location and design. All remains as per Contract design and approved Site establishment sketch.
4.2 CHALLENGE.
Continues remind for Workers, some workers has poor response concerning of using PPE during the
worktime although there are daily awareness but safety still insist them.
4.3 CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION.
Actual this monthly report provides description of Contractor’s Environmental and Social Management
and Monitoring activities to be undertaken in relation to the Contract for Proposed Construction of Post
-Harvest Centre of Excellence for Grains at the Strategic Market Centre-Lot 3 within the monthly. The
report covers environmental and social management and monitoring activities

A contractor appreciates for often site inspection and monitoring and support from environmental client
and consultant to remind each other, ensure and promote safe at work.
