(101097)-5527 to 33, CERAMReference: (101721)-8600 / CR2 INTRODUCTION ‘A number of ceramic tiles were submitted for a series of tests by Nova Star International. The ties were tested in accordance with BS EN 10545 and BS EN 14411: 2006. BSEN 10546 is split into 16 parts with each of the parts giving a test method to characterise specific physical attributes of the tie. BS EN 14411: 2006, lists specific requirements and marking criteria for best commercial quality tiles. Nova Star submitted seven types of tiles for the tests and these were marked: Ma40a, M3408 M3508, M3508 27437 27438 4565 ‘The tiles were tested in accordance with BS EN 10545, Parts 10, 11, 13 and 14 which characterise the tiles in respect of moisture expansion, crazing ‘resistance, chemical resistance and stain resistance. The ties marked 27437 and 2T438 were subjected to an additional test BS EN 10545, Part 7, which characterise the resistance of the tile to surface abrasion. RESULTS Moisture Expansion BS EN 10545-10 The majority of glazed and unglazed tiles have negligible moisture expansion which does not contribute to tiling problems when fixed correctly. However, with unsatisfactory fixing practices or in certain climatic conditions, moisture expansion in excess of 0.06% may contribute to problems. The Nova Star tiles, when tested were found to have negligible moisture expansion with the highest value recorded being 0.02% and therefore meet the requirement of BS EN 14411 Crazing Resistance BS EN 10545-11 The tiles were subjected to the crazing resistance tests with none of the samples tested exhibiting crazing on completion of the test and therefore meet the requirement of BS EN 14411. Chemical Resistance BS EN 1045-13 ‘The tiles were tested for chemical resistance using a standard range of household chemicals, alkalis, acids and swimming poo! salts. The tiles were exposed to the chemical in accordance with the test ‘method and on inspection none of the tiles tested showed any visible effects and therefore meet the requirements of BS EN 14411 CERAM RESEARCH LTD Ok Cn QUEENS ROAD, PENKHULL Page 2 of 3 STOKi S Hall ST47L0 ‘Authorised Signatory Nova Star International PO Box 124957 Dubai UAE FAO: RKakar REPORT OF TESTS ON: Your Referenc CERAM Reference: PHYSICAL TESTING REPORT Tiles 40x400m 4565 (101097)-5531 CERAM ‘Qusens Road, Penkhul, Stoke-on Tent, ‘Staffordshire ST4 7L, United Kingdom tel: +44 (3845 026 0002 fax: 444 (11782 412331, ‘email: enquiries@cerarn corn ‘web: wws.ceram.com Date Reported 46-Mar-2010 Order Number: Paid Date Logged 02-Mar-2010 Date(s) of Testis): 04-Mar-2010 to 16-Mar-2010 Determin i ‘BSENISO 10545-13: 1997 Chemical! | Chemical?
