1. In a series circuit consisting of pure resistance and pure inductance the current and voltage
are expressed as i(t) 5𝑠𝑖𝑛(314𝑡 + 2𝜋⁄3) and v(t) = 15𝑠𝑖𝑛(314𝑡 + 5𝜋⁄6).

2. A resistance of 20 Ω and inductance of 0.2 H and capacitance 150 µF are connected in
series and are fed by 230V, 50 Hz supply. Find inductive reactance, Inductive capacitance
and impedance of the circuit. Also find active and reactive power.

13. A consumer uses a 10 kW geezer, a 6 kW electric furnace, and five 100 W bulbs for 15
hours. How many units (kWh) of electrical energy have been used?
14. It is desired to have 4.13 mWb maximum core flux in a transformer at 110 V and 50 Hz.
Determine the required number of turns in the primary.
15. A 3300/1100, 25 kVA transformer turns 99 turns in the secondary turns and also the primary
and secondary full load current.
16. A 40 kVA transformer has iron loss of 450 W and full load copper loss of 850 W. If the
power factor of the load is 0.8 lagging. Calculate full load efficiency and kVA at which
maximum efficiency occurs. Also, find the maximum efficiency.
17. A three-phase 440 V, 50 Hp, 50 Hz induction motor delivered rated power output at 1440
rpm. Find the number of poles of machines, synchronous speed, slip, and slip speed. Also,
find the rotor speed at 750 rpm.
18. A three-phase 50 Hz induction motor has 6 poles and operates with slip of 5 % at certain
load. Find the speed of the rotor, frequency of the rotor current.
19. A discharged battery is put on charge at 5 A for 4 hours at a mean charging voltage of 13.5
V. It is then discharged in 6 hours at a constant terminal voltage of 12 V through a resistance
of R ohm. Calculate the value of R for an ampere-hour efficiency of 85%.
20. Find the power dissipated across 1Ω resistor, by using Norton’s Theorem
