SOUTHERN BAPTIST COLLLEGE

HIGH SCHOOL
M’LANG NORTH COTABATO
QUARTER: 4 WEEK: 4 DATE: April 23-26, 2024
GRADE: 7 SUBJECT: Mathematics SECTION: Ezekiel
TEACHER: Andy Vonn M. Honrejas

LEARNING PLAN

I. CONTENT
A. Competencies
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and
importance of Statistics, data collection/gathering and the different
forms of data representation, measures of central tendency, measures of
variability, and probability.
a. illustrate the measures of central tendency (mean, median
and mode) of statistical data; and
b. calculate the measure of central tendency of grouped data
(Mean, Median and Mode)

B. Lesson: measure of central tendency of grouped data

C. Resources:
D. Biblical integration: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will
establish your plans.” (Proverbs 16:3)

II. PROCESS
A. PRE-ASSESSMENT

B. Acquisition

Frequency Distribution table

The number of pieces of data that fall into a particular class is
called the frequency of that class. For example, as shown in table 1, the
frequency of the class 31-35 is seven. A table listing all classes and their
frequencies is called a frequency distribution.

Example Table 1. Scores of grade 7-Ezekiel students in the 4 th periodical

test in mathematics
Table 1

46-50 2
41-45 2
36-40 5
31-35 7
26-30 4
Mean for the Grouped data
When the number of items is a set of data is too big, items are
grouped for convenience. To find the mean of grouped data using class
marks, the following formula can be used:

∑ ( fx )
MEAN=
∑f
Where : f is the frequency of each class
X is the class mark of the class

Example 1. Calculate the mean of 4th periodical test scores of grade 7

Ezekiel- students In mathematics
4th periodical test scores of grade 7- Ezekiel students in
mathematics

Score frequency
46-50 2
41-45 2
36-40 5
31-35 7
26-30 4

Solution:

Score Frequency Class mark fx

(f) (x)
46-50 2 48 96
41-45 2 43 86
36-40 5 37 185
31-35 7 33 231
26-30 4 28 112
i= 5 f = 20 ∑ fx = 710

∑ ( fx ) 710
MEAN= = 20
= 35.5
∑f
Therefore, the mean of the 4th periodical test is 35.5.

Median for Grouped data

The median is the middle value in a set of quantities. The first step
in solving the Median of grouped data is to find the class interval

( )
th
N
Which contains score. This can be located under the column of the
2
<cf of the distribution. To calculate the median of grouped data, use the
formula

( )
N
−C f b
Median = 2
LB+ ⅈ
fm
Where : ~
x = Median
LB = lower boundary of the median class
N = total frequency
Cf = Cumulative frequency of before the median class
f = frequency of the median class
Example: calculate the median of 40 JHS teachers of Southern Baptist
College

Age Frequency <cf

59-65 2 40
52-58 6 38
45-51 5 32
38-44 11 27
31-37 9 16
24-30 7 7
i=7 N = 40

( )
N
−C f b
Median = 2
LB+ ⅈ
fm

Calculate the median class.

N
Median class = 2
40
= 2
= 20th

( )
N
−C f b
Median = 2
LB+ ⅈ
fm

= 37.5+ ( 20−16
11 )
7

= 37.5+ ( 114 ) 7
= 37.5+ ( 0.36 ) (7)

= 37.5+2.52

MEDIAN = 40.02

Mode of grouped data

To calculate the mode of grouped data, use the formula

^x =LB+
( Δ1
)
Δ1 + Δ 2

Where: ^x = Mode
LB = Lower Boundary of the modal class
Δ 1= Difference between the frequency of the modal class
and
the frequency of the next lower
Δ 2= Difference between the frequency of the modal class
and
the frequency of the next lower class.

The table bellow shows the weight (in kilograms) of 30 residents of st.
lucia village. Find the mode.

weight Frequency
91-100 3
81-90 2
71-80 6
61-70 11
51-60 7
41-50 1

Determine the modal class and calculate the mode.

weight Frequency
91-100 3
81-90 2
71-80 6
61-70 11
51-60 7
41-50 1
i = 10 N= 30

^x =LB+
( Δ1
)
Δ1 + Δ 2

= 60.5 + ( 4 4+5 ) 10
= 60.5 + ( ) 10
4
9
= 60.5 + (0.44)(10)
= 60.5 + 4.4

^x = 64.9
