AIMS OF PHILIPPINE

EDUCATION
◦ To protect and promote the right of every Filipino to
quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete basic
education where :

◦ - students learn in a child-friendly, gender sensitive, safe


and motivating environment.

◦ -teachers facilitate learning and constantly nurture


every learner.
Batas Pambansa Bilang 232 also known as the Education Act of
1982

-is a law in the Philippines that outlines policies and regulations related to
education in the country.

- It was enacted during the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos signed into


law on September 11,1982.

- -this law introduced significant changes to the educational system in


the Philippines including the adoption of a 10-year basic education
cycle and the establishment of the Department of Education, Culture
and Sports (DECS) to oversee educational matters.

education system to better serve the needs of
Filipino students.
◦ BATAS PAMBANSA BILANG 232 EDUCATION ACT OF 1982

◦ -The state shall promote the right of every individuals to


relevant quality education, regardless of sex, age, creed,
socio-economic status, physical and mental conditions
racist or ethnic origin, political or other affiliation.

This Act shall be known as the “Education


Act of 1982.”

country, teach the rights and duties of citizenship, strengthen

broaden scientific and technological knowledge, and promote
vocational efficiency.

• (3) At the option expressed in writing by the parents or
guardians, religion shall be allowed to be taught to their
children or wards in public elementary and high schools within
the regular class hours by instructors designated or approved
by the religious authorities of the religion to which the children
or wards belong, without additional cost to the Government.
Religion may be taught in public schools
subject to the following requisites:
1. Express written option by parents and guardians;
2.Taught within regular class hours;
3.Instructors are designated and approved by the proper
religious authorities; and
4.Without additional cost to the government.

The aims of Philippine education, as outlined in
Republic Act No. 10533 (the Enhanced Basic
Education Act of 2013 or the K-12 Law), align
with the broader goals of providing quality
education and preparing learners for lifelong
learning and global competitiveness.

Philippine education aims to foster the holistic
development of learners. It seeks to nurture their
intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and moral
well-being. The focus is on developing well-rounded
individuals who possess not only academic knowledge
but also essential life skills, values, and character.

Section 2: (a) Give every student an opportunity to


receive quality education that is globally competitive
based on a pedagogically sound curriculum that is at
par with international standards;

The law promotes inclusive education, ensuring
that all learners, including those with special needs,
have access to quality education. It recognizes the
diverse learning needs of students and encourages
an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The aim is to provide equal opportunities for all
learners to reach their full potential.

SEC. 3. Basic Education. — Basic education is intended to meet


basic learning needs which provides the foundation on which
subsequent learning can be based. It encompasses kindergarten,
elementary and secondary education as well as alternative learning
systems for out-of-school learners and those with special needs. 30
Philippine education aims to equip learners with the
knowledge and skills needed to compete globally. The
K-12 curriculum, introduced under RA No. 10533,
aligns with international standards, making it easier
for Filipino students to pursue further studies or seek
employment abroad. The aim is to produce globally
competitive graduates who can contribute to the
country's development.
Section 4 & 5 : Enhance Basic Education Programs
One (1) year of kindergarten education,
six (6) years of elementary education,
and six (6) years of secondary education
*(4) years of junior high school and two
*(2) years of senior high school education. 31
The DepED shall adhere to the following standards and principles in developing the
enhanced basic education curriculum:
• (a) The curriculum shall be learner centered, inclusive and developmentally
appropriate;
• (b) The curriculum shall be relevant, responsive and research-based;
• (c) The curriculum shall be culture sensitive;
• (d) The curriculum shall be contextualized and global;
• (e) The curriculum shall use pedagogical approaches that are constructivist, inquiry
based, reflective, collaborative and integrative;
• (f) The curriculum shall adhere to the principles and framework of Mother Tongue
Based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) which starts from where the learners are
and from what they already knew proceeding from the known to the unknown;
instructional materials and capable teachers to implement the MTB-MLE curriculum
shall be available;

• (g) The curriculum shall use the spiral progression approach to
ensure mastery of knowledge and skills after each level; and
• (h) The curriculum shall be flexible enough to enable and allow
schools to localize, indigenize and enhance the same based on their
respective educational and social contexts. The production and
development of locally produced teaching materials shall be
encouraged, and approval of these materials shall devolve to the
regional and division education units.

Philippine education aims to instill a love for
learning and promote lifelong learning among
learners. It recognizes that education is a

formal schooling. The goal is to develop
learners who are motivated to pursue further
education, acquire new skills, and adapt to
the changing demands of the future.

promoting effective teaching methodologies,
appropriate learning resources, and modern
facilities. The goal is to ensure that learners
acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and
competencies to succeed in their chosen
paths.
