Personal and background information

Eyob is 14 years old boy who born in Addis

Education
Ababa, Ethiopia Yeka sub city woreda 11
in a village called Selam Dabo who lives in Eyob is grade six student who learn in
personal little house with his mother. Dejazmach Wondirad primary school
Nearby, he is surrounded by his mother’s which is about 1.5 km away from home.
relatives. Eyob loves to learn Amharic subject more
than the other subjects.
Friendship
Eyob has three friends at his village and
two friends at school. Among the Mission
10:10 Foundation kids he is little bit get
closer with Biruk Dereje. He gets close
with him because he cares about him by
being together and study together.

With the foundation

According to Tirunesh his mother, he
joined the foundation before six years
ago, she said that all nutrition need is
fulfilled by the monthly distribution from
the foundation. She said that the prayer
from the foundation members is making
her to survive.
Future Plan

Eyob wants to be football player

His mother, Tirunesh Tulu

Tirunesh is a 42 years old orthodox

religion follower woman who born in
Addis Ababa Yeka sub city woreda 11
here in Kotebe. She had learned up to
grade six. She quitted her education
because she faced difficulty in
understanding all subjects except
Amharic , social studies, math and the
three general science subjects are given
in English language in grade seven.

After she quit her education, she started

jobs to earn income such as home to
home cloth washing, collecting fire
woods and sell, worker as daily laborer
and homemade servant. Her steps were
not successful because her mind and
spirit is greatly possessed by evil spirits.
In order to deliver from her evil spirit
possessing, she had traveled many
monasteries and churches that the
religion believers believed to be healed.
Most of the monasteries and churches
use full body baptism and sprinkling the
water that is believed to be holy. She had
been at Debre Libanos Monastery for ten
years which is about 90 km from Addis
Ababa. While she was there she lost a
lots of her share inheritance of
compound and home from her parents.
Because her siblings took much portion
of it.
Her parents promised her to inherit the
right side of their home, but her siblings
share her 150 meter square compound.
At this compound recently government
had built her six meter square home.
Before 15 years, she introduced a man
who is younger than her and started to
make love. They lived in rental house for
one year and Tirunesh got pregnant.
After her love boy separated from her
she hadn’t seen him then after. She was
empowered by the foundation to sell
charcoal but she was not successful.
Recently when you visited her you gave
her $100 to start business. Now Tirunesh
wants to work poultry in her compound.
From the time she joined the foundation,
the foundation is struggling to deliver her
from evil spirit.
How the mother and child are going on?
The most crucial point in this report is here. Eyob lives with a mother who is spiritually
possessed by evil spirits. In overall situation of the family, there is lack of hygiene,
knowledge of nutrition preparation, lack of cloth hygiene and dressing. Tirunesh and
Eyob are in great bond and intimacy. She or her spirit doesn't want Eyob to walk alone.
Eyob cannot walk alone because Tirunesh does not allow him. His hands are always
held by his mother while they go to school and go back to home. Her neighbors and the
child reported that she took him to forest and stay full day there.

In this interview, from the perspective respond of Tirunesh, she reported that she
advise him to follow right pedestrian traffic rules. Moreover she reminds him always
that, he should stay alone and not to have closer friendship and social relationship to
keep the heritage of the home which she is going to inherit him. This is because,
according to her view, if he got friends they will deceive him and will take his
inheritance that she will going to have inherit him. Tirunesh also advise her boy that
should not start love relationship in his early ages.
Family Health
The physical health of the family is very well both the mother and the child are well.

Character

Eyob is a quite boy which is dominated by the life with

his mother. He wants to express himself but he does
not practice and socialize how to communicate and
express himself to others. His words and answers are STORY
short and precise. Eyob wants to be close with friends
but others image about his mother and himself make HEADLINE
him to be alone in game time. Eyob walks by hanging
one of his hands like someone hold his arm. This is
because he is always held by his mother.

Distinct Observation
- There is inappropriate feeling and fear of the mother
about her child.
- The mother is harshly spiritually possessed.
- The child is not socialized well.

Extra Time
On weekdays, Eyob usually assists his mother with
household tasks such as dishwashing and washing
clothes for himself and his mother. He spends his free
time during the week playing football with other children.
Tirunesh also takes him to her relatives on foot, which is
about 3 kilometers from their house. Every few weeks,
they travel to Selale, which is 100 kilometers from Addis
Abebe. Eyob and his mother stay there for a few days
before returning home.
Discipline Measure
According to Eyob he does wrong activities by playing more
time outside the compound. While he comes late, his
mother will rebuke him with hard offensive words and will
have finger punishment on his arms.

Safety Issues
The mother’s spirit does not feel safe if her child is
away from her this is a feeling. However when we
come to the reality, the mother and the child stay in
forest until night. This habit may expose them for
sexual harassment on her and psychological effect on
the boy that he may observe his mother is harassed.
The other thing is they may exposed to wild animal
venom and carnivorous wild animals attack. She is
highly traumatized. Staffs tried to council her and pray
for her.
