Questions:
a. Write the research formulation problems/research questions.
b. Write the research hypotheses.
c. Describe what research method and its design you will use for conducting the research.
d. Describe the population and how you will select the sample for the research.
e. Describe how will you collect the data.
f. Describe how will you analyze the data.

ANSWER

1. The two main areas of statistics are known as descriptive statistics which describes the properties of
sample and population data, and inferential statistics which uses those traits to test hypotheses and draw
conclusions. Descriptive Statistics is that branch of statistics which is concerned with describing the
population under study. Inferential Statistics is a type of statistics, that focuses on drawing conclusions
about the population, on the basis of sample analysis and observation.

2. The data analysis technique used in qualitative analysis has four stages, namely data collection, data
reduction, data presentation and the last step is drawing conclusions and verification.
data is collected by several qualitative data collection techniques, namely;
 interview,
 Observation ,
 Documentation,
 Focused discussion (Focus Group Discussion).

3. STEP
 Click the Data Tab, then click Data Analysis.
 Select Descriptive Statistics, then click OK.
 Click the Input Range column, then select (block) all total score data. ...
 Change Grouped By to Column. ...
 Check Labels in First Row.

4. Pearson correlation or often called Product Moment Correlation (KPM) is a statistical test tool used to
test the associative hypothesis (test relationship) of two variables if the data is interval or ratio scale.
The data to be tested must be homogeneous.
The data to be tested must also be normally distributed.
There needs to be a monotonous relationship between the two variables (many people say it is linear).

Correlations

Writing Reading

Writing Pearson Correlation 1 .025

Sig. (2-tailed) .897

N 30 30
Reading Pearson Correlation .025 1

Sig. (2-tailed) .897

N 30 30

5. A) Problem Formulation: How the Effect of the Discussion Method on the Speaking Ability of Class X

B) The research hypothesis is a working hypothesis (alternative hypothesis Ha or H1), which is a

hypothesis formulated to answer problems using theories that are relevant (relevant) to the research
problem and are not based on facts and real data support in the field.

C) Research design is a framework of research methods and techniques chosen by a researcher. Its
design allows researchers to hone research methods suitable for the subject matter and organize their
studies for success.
There are three main types of designs for research: data collection, measurement, and analysis. The
type of research problem facing the organization will determine the research design and not the other
way around. The study design phase determines which tools will be used and how they will be used.

D) Population is a group or collection of objects or objects that will be generalized from the research
results. According to Mulyatiningsih (2011: 19), the population is a group of people, animals, plants, or
objects that have certain characteristics to be studied.
Sampling steps:
 Define a population and list members of the population.
 Divide the population based on the desired strata.
 Determine the number of samples in each stratum.
 Choose a sample from each stratum at random.

E) General Data Collection Techniques

 Observation (observation) Observation data collection technique is done by direct
observation.
 Questionnaire (Questionnaire).
 Interview (Interview).
 Literature review.
 Document Study.

F) Data Analysis Steps

 Collecting data The first step is to collect the required respondent data.
 Selection and editing. Usually, the data collected is raw data, aka there are still some parts that
must be discarded.
 Coding (coding).
 Data presentation.
