Graduation is the ultimate achievement for high school students. Therefore, in keeping with the tradition,
significance and honor this momentous occasion deserves, Sol C. Johnson High School will host a dignified
ceremony. We are respectfully asking you, the prospective candidate and parent/guardian, to review and
adhere to the following guidelines for participation:

1. Rehearsals will be conducted at school, as well as the same day of the ceremony. Any student wishing
to participate in the ceremony must attend all of the rehearsals and remain until the end. Rehearsals will
be held during Senior Week, which will commence from May 16th – 19th. Students are to report to school
at 8:00 am during this week. Seniors must follow the SCCPSS guidelines for dressing down during
the week of May 16th – 19th. Students not dressed appropriately will not be allowed to attend
practice. (Including but not limited to lounge wear, inappropriate shorts, midriff tops, bonnets,
bedroom slippers, etc.) There will also be mandatory dress practice on May 22nd from 8:00 – 9:30 am.
Students are required to attend in graduation attire. Additionally,

2. Student dress for this occasion must follow district dress code guidelines. A cap and gown are required
to participate in the ceremony. Attire for males is black dress pants; collared white dress long
sleeve shirt; dark colored tie; dark colored dress shoes (no tennis shoes) and dark colored dress
socks. Attire for females is a solid black dress that is not more than 3 inches above the knee;
black flat (no embellishments) dress shoes (with a back). Jewelry is limited to a small necklace
and earrings no larger than a 50-cent piece. Any clothing item or accessory that is unduly
distracting is a violation of the Code of Conduct and will not be permitted. This includes but is not
limited to backless, strapless, spaghetti straps, lace and/or high/low dresses, etc.

3. An electronic ticket is required for entry to this event. Tickets will be released to students beginning
the week of May 15th. Each student will receive fifteen (15) electronic tickets. Everyone with a heartbeat
must have a ticket to enter.

We look forward to a dignified graduation ceremony which honors our young people and appropriately
celebrates their achievement. Thank you for your support and assistance in making this event possible.
Congratulations to you and your family on this memorable achievement.
