THEME: “General Education Week: Building Foundation, Shaping Minds”


Rubric, guidelines, and mechanics for GE Week activities.

BLEACHER CHEERING
Rubrics
 Movements are creative, varied, and
reflect the festival theme.
 Formations and transitions are precise

Guidelines:
 Teams should be composed of different houses.
 Each team will have 25-30 members
 Routine length should be 2-4 minutes.
 Props and costume pieces are allowed if used safely.
 No vulgar or offensive choreography permitted.
 Time limit includes set up and break down of props.
 The decision of judges is final and non-appealable.

Mechanics:
 Performances will take place on the event center bleachers.
 A sound system will be provided for music.
 Teams must provide their music on a device/CD/flash drive.
 Order of performances will be pre-assigned.
 Headmasters will check in teams at least 30 minutes prior.

2. All participants will receive certificates of participation.

SPEECH CHOIR

MECHANICS
1. Speech choirs shall be comprised of twelve (12) to twenty-five (25) class
members.
2. “REVERSE CREATION” by Bernard Backman shall be the piece and be recited
with vocal and other effects in five (5) to seven (7) minutes.
3. Members of the choirs shall wear and use costumes, props, and others whenever
appropriate to improve the choral interpretation of the piece.
4. Dangerous stunts shall be prohibited. The board of judges reserves the right to
discontinue presentations whenever posing danger or risks to the members of the
team, the judges, and the audience.
5. Upon submission of the results to the committee, judges’ decision shall be
considered final and irrevocable.
6. Only three (3) speech choirs shall be awarded as Champion, 1st Runner-Up, and
2nd Runner-Up.

CRITERIA
1. Overall Interpretation (40%). The speech choir invokes thoughts and feelings
and initiates a shared experience with the audience through superior dynamics,
unique techniques, and expressive interpretations of the lines.
2. Mastery and Delivery (40%). The speech choir demonstrates mastery of the
piece by maintaining vocal unison, stage poise, eye contact, and other verbal and
nonverbal effects.
3. Costume and Props (10%). The speech choir wears costumes and uses props
indispensable in the interpretation of the piece and shared experience between
the choir and the audience.
4. Audience Impact (10%). The speech choir succeeds in engaging the audience in
the shared experience, hence communicating the message of the literary piece.

HISTORICAL FACES SOUNDS FAMILIAR
Mechanics

 The competition is open to all bona fide students of PSU-BC who are
taking GE 2 (Readings in Philippine History) and officially enrolled this 1 st
semester A.Y. 2023-2024.
 A participant should imitate, act, and portray their chosen character.
For example:
a. President of the Philippines
b. Hero
c. Notable artist
d. Famous historical character
 Can be a group or individual performance.
 Performer/s could bring their background music (if needed) and they will
only be given a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 3 minutes
presentation.
 Judges’ decision is final.
 There will be 3 winners: (cash prize with certificate);
 3rd place
 2nd place
 1st place

Event: Rise of the Intellectual Giants: Quiz Bee Mechanics
Mechanics:
The participants in this event will be selected by the headmaster of each house.
Prepare for a mental showdown as 7 houses of intellectual giants clash in a quest for
glory! Each team boasts 3 fearless warriors and 1 hidden reserve, ready to conquer the
treacherous peaks of knowledge in General Education Subjects. The journey unfolds
across 3 challenging rounds, testing versatility, insight, and sheer brilliance.
Round 1: The Labyrinth of Trivia (Easy - Multiple Choice)
 Navigate a maze of 15 multiple-choice questions covering GE 1 to GE 9 topics.
 Answer within 30 seconds per question, using ¼ whiteboards to claim the
spotlight.
 Each correct answer rewards 1 point, paving the path to higher peaks.
Round 2: The Insight Challenge (Moderate - Identification)
 Unravel the mysteries hidden within 10 identification questions spanning various
realms.
 Correct identifications within 45 seconds earn 2 points, fueling your ascent
towards intellectual victory.
Round 3: The Summit of Savvy (Difficult – Problem Solving and Identification)
 Scale the ultimate challenge – 5 questions demanding intricate analysis and
creative solutions.
 Time becomes your ally, with 60 seconds per question to forge your mental
masterpiece.
 Impress the spectators with accuracy, cognitive excellence, and prowess,
earning 3 points for summiting the peak of knowledge.
The Guardians of Integrity: Technical Committee
A vigilant Technical Committee will guard the gates of fairness, addressing any
concerns and ensuring the competition thrives on respect and intellectual
sportsmanship.
Points and the Path to Triumph:
 Every point counts in this mental marathon! At the end of each round, the team
with the highest score ascends to the leaderboard.
 The team claiming the highest cumulative score across all rounds will be
crowned the Champions of the Quiz Bee, their names etched in the annals of
intellectual glory.
Elimination and Tiebreaker Rules:
 The teams occupying the bottom 3 positions on the leaderboard will be
eliminated from further participation.
 Only the top 4 teams with the highest cumulative scores at the end of the
Moderate Round will advance to the Difficult (Final) Round.
 In the event of a tie for the last qualifying position, tiebreaker questions will be
used to determine the advancing team.
CHALK ART COMPETITION

MECHANICS:
Only one (1) participant each track.
ONE box of colored Chalk will be provided each participant.
If you need additional colors, you may share or exchange chalk with other artists. We
ask that you return unused chalk.
Artists are encouraged to bring their own additional water-based chalk, charcoal or
pastels, to add vibrancy, depth, and variety. Artists should also bring their own
brushes, water and any other materials or tools they need.
NOTE: All chalk must be water-based and temporary (no paint, fixatives, or oil-based
products).
The art created must be suitable for the public. No words, symbols, or caricatures
intended as political statements may appear within the art. Art created must be
culturally sensitive and appropriate, respecting the diversity promoted in our
culmination.
Participants will have from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm to complete their drawings. All
drawings must be completed by 3:00 pm so that judging can begin right after.
Artists/Teams
 All artists must be registered by (date). A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4
people per team.
 Spaces will be assigned the morning of Staff Fest. First come, first served.
 Artists may start as early as 8 am and must be finished by noon.
 Sidewalk spaces will be approximately 7’x 8’ (sample size). Not all spaces are
the same size and some spaces may include cracks/seams or be non-square
shaped.

Rules
 Chalk art only to be produced in designated and assigned areas.
 All chalk must be water-based and temporary (no paint, fixatives, or oil-based
products).
 Teams are competing to create a design that best embodies this year’s theme,
___________________.
 Art created must be suitable for public and family viewing (no nude, or lewd art).
No words or symbols intended as political statements may appear within the art.
 All art must only include chalk. Non-chalk props or items will exclude art from
judging.
 Please respect others around you. Try to keep your supplies to a minimum and
contained in your space.
 Participants will have from ______ pm to ______pm to complete their drawings.
All drawings must be completed by _______ pm so that judging can begin right
after.
 Results are final

Supplies
 An assortment of colored chalk, spray bottles of water for fixes, and rags will be
provided.
 ONE (1) box of colored Chalk will be provided each participant.
 We ask that you return unused chalk.
 You can bring additional supplies. Suggested supplies include:
o Additional rags or sponges to erase unwanted chalk.
o Heavy fabric, carpet square or cardboard to stand, kneel or lean on to not
smear your work.
o Soft towel, gardener’s pad or knee pads to kneel on. Gloves to protect
your hands
o Chalkboard eraser, foam, terry cloth or short cut brushes for blending
larger areas.
o Additional chalk.
