The Big You and Flirt Exercise

Exercise in Pairs
Your partner reads the exercise to you and supports you to follow the steps, if
needed.
Tell a brief recent dream, and choose a snippet of it that you would like to explore
the most. Make a note of it now.

Now take a moment or two and try to relax; take a couple of deep breaths,
and slowly allow your eyes to close for a moment. When your eyes feel
ready, let them open slowly. Slowly gaze around where you are sitting,
standing, or lying. Although you are relaxed as a whole, use your “fast cat”
attention and catch the first object, person, colour, design, or material that
your attention focuses on. If several things catch your attention, let your
unconscious mind choose which object or event to focus on.
Now take a moment, and hold that object in your attention; keep your
focus on that object. Hold it as closely as you can. When you are ready,
feel your way into it. Try to imagine that you are within that object, in fact,
that you are the object. Use your hands or facial expression or sitting
posture to make some sort of motion that expresses the object’s nature, or
make a sound that it might make. You might make that hand motion again.
Now make a note about that object and motion.
Now decrease the motion, the sound. In fact, make no motion or sound at
all, but instead, simply feel the energy that is behind the thing that caught
your attention. Get to the root, the seed, and the essence of the object, an
essence that was there before it became an object, so to speak. This root
may be only a slight sensation at first. Nevertheless, it is important.
Take a moment and try to get to the essence of that sensation, its root. This
is how to get to the Dreaming essence behind the thing that caught your
attention. Stay with the essence right there. Be there. Be that Dreaming.
Stay in that state. Don't be hesitant. Let that state be, and give yourself a
chance to experience it. Just be there in the experience of the essence of
the thing that caught your attention.
Be in the essence of the world of Dreaming. Now you are close to the
Dreaming. This is an eternal aspect of yourself, the Big You, the state of
oneness and creativity that gives rise to all other things. Be in that state and
allow yourself to feel and imagine how life might be if you were close to this

essence. Take your time with this essence. Make a note of the energy of the
essence.
Finally, Discuss what you have found in this exercise with your partner.
Reconsider the dream or part of a dream you recalled in step one. Do you
have associations with that part of the dream, that figure or figures? Make
notes of those associations now. How is this dream, or part of the dream,
connected to your experience of the essence that occurred in step five? Try
describing the figures and actions of that dream in terms of their
relationship to the energy of the world of Dreaming. Are they reactions to it,
or representations of it? Explore with your partner what these figures might
represent.
Now swap over
