FACE COVER

TO REMOVE:
1. Remove the cap (a) and setscrew (B).
Unhook ribs from the rear cover. remove the face cover.
TO ATTACH:
2. Follow the above procedure in reverse.

TO REMOVE:
1. Remove setscrew (C).
2. Take the belt cover out.

TO ATTACH:
3. Follow the above procedure in reverse.

TO REMOVE:
1. Remove the setscrews (A).
2. Remove the base plate.

TO ATTACH:
3. Mount the base plate and secure it with four setscrews.

FRONT COVER

TO REMOVE:
1. Remove the face cover, and remove the belt cover (see page 1-2).
2. Loosen setscrews (A), (B), (C), (D), (E), and (F), remove setscrews (G) and (H), then remove the
front cover.

NOTE: Unhook the tab (J) from the rear cover when removing the front cover.

3. Mount the front cover in reverse procedure of the removing.

REAR COVER

TO REMOVE:
1. Remove the face cover, and remove the belt cover (see page 1-2).
2. Remove the setscrew (a) and the cover (L).
3. Remove the cap(k) and remove the screws (B), (C), (D) and (J).
4. Loosen the setscrew (E), (F), (G) and (H).
5. Remove the rear cover.

NOTE: Dismantle the rear cover in the order of the lower part (X), upper
part (Y), then presser foot lifter part (Z).

TO ATTACH:
6. Mount the rear cover in reverse procedure of the removing.

MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT

PRESSER BAR HEIGHT AND ALIGNMENT

TO CHECK:
1. Lower the presser foot lifter.
2. The distance between bottom of presser foot and top of needle plate should be 4.0 mm (0.16") when the
presser foot is set at the standard position (The second line from the top aligns with the bottom of the
presser bar.)

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the face cover (see page 1).
Remove the lamp from the lamp socket, then lower the presser foot lifter.
2. Loosen the thumb screw. align the bottom of presser bar (B) and the second line (C) from the top on the
presser foot.
3. Adjust the distance between bottom of presser foot and top of needle plate to 4.0 mm.
4. Adjust the direction of the presser bar so the presser foot is parallel to the neelde plate. tighten the screw.
5. Attach lamp and face cover.

MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT

NEEDLE BAR HEIGHT

When the needle bar is at its lowest position, the distance between the tip of the needle unit and the top of
needle plate should be in the range of 15.7-16.3 mm.

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE:
1. Attach the needle plate.
2. Turn the handwheel toward you until the needle bar reaches its lowest position.
3. Open the bed cover.
4. Loosen the setscrew (A) and remove the eye guard (unit).
5. Loosen the screw (B). Adjust the distance between the tip of the needle unit and needle plate to 16 mm.
6. Tighten the screw (B) and (A).
NOTE:
Be sure the needle unit does not interfear with the needle plate.
7. Close the bed cover plate.

MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT

MOTOR BELT TENSION

TO CHECK:
1. Improper belt tension may cause noise, overload of motor, slow running or motor belt jumping.

2. The belt deflection should be 7 mm - 9 mm when pressing the middle of the motor belt with
approximately 300 grams of pressure.

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the belt cover (see page 4).
2. Loosen the screws (A) and (B).
3. Move the motor up or down to adjust the deflection about 7 mm -9 mm.
4. Tighten the screws (A) and (B).
5. Attach the belt cover.
