A Reflection Following a Lesson I taught on 9\12\22 (Semester A)
A Description of the Lesson (1 paragraph)- topic, class, what was taught, activities. Do not
judge or evaluate
The subject of the lesson was diagrams__ SH + PH. I explained to the children the concept
of dia__ while playing a game in which they try to guess how to write a certain word with
the combination of letters. Throughout the lesson, I incorporated short videos explaining
the subject of diagrams in poetry__ and then the children played a game in Wordwell__ in
which they have to choose only words with SH\PH letter combinations from several
words. In addition, the children wrote on the board new words they learned and wrote
the conceptual definition in the notebook.
Thoughts and Feelings (1-2 sentence
I was a little nervous at the beginning of the lesson because the computer wasn't working
and I wanted to project the game and the videos on the board. Nevertheless, I managed to
overcome the difficulty and used my computer, we sat as a group around the computer so
that everyone saw the video and when they wanted they took turns playing. I enjoyed
seeing the children excited about the game or writing on the board.
Evaluation: Judge, what went well (provide evidence based on students' production,
feedback, or pedagogical counselor's feedback, your own assessment of your practices),
what did not go well or not as planned, and what changes/improvements are needed
It seems that the students really enjoyed playing the game and even learned new words,
they were excited to write them on the board and tried to write words that were a little
more complex in the game like elephant or microphone. I didn't plan for the children to
write in the notebook, but the teacher asked them to write something, so I had to find out
during the lesson what the children would write in the notebook. Next, I will check with
the teacher before me about certain goals that are important to her that I work with the
group in order to prepare in a better way.
Another thing, the teacher wanted us to work on 3 letter combinations, and according to
the lesson plan, I felt that I wouldn't have time to include more material beyond the 2 I
already included. I'm glad I didn't add another conjunction because it would have made it
difficult for the students and we also didn't have enough time for it.
