Narrative Report

August 6, 2023
The program was formally started with an opening prayer which was led by Ms. Elizabeth A. Gulferic. A community song
was sung and led by Mrs. Jennifer E. Romeo which was indeed enjoyed by the kids as they sang with action and
enthusiasm. The opening remarks were given by Mrs. Claire Deguit, the president of Lakbay Kalinga Inc. together with
Mr. Jeffrey L. Espiritu the Over-all chairman of COPE for the Children Outreach Program 2023. They shared their wisdom
and experiences as the organization thrive through the years, citing every milestone that had been successfully passed
through. All for the betterment of the learner beneficiaries.

To keep the ball rolling, Ms. Wenalyn R. Arguelles led the “Music and Movement” as an ice breaker. An interesting story
with moral values was read by Mrs. Blesilda F. Corpin followed by more “Fun Reading Activities” facilitated by Mrs.
Rochelle V. Andes.

As the learner beneficiaries enjoy the activities, they were also given the chance to show how happy and thankful they
are through an Intermission Number. To recognize and show gratitude to all the sponsors and the people behind the
success of the activities, Mrs. Mary Jane M. Espiritu led the Awarding of Certificates.

As the saying goes, “every time you eat is an opportunity to nourish your body.” This activity will not be complete
without the feeding part where the kids were given nutritious food to nourish their mind and body for an enthusiastic
and healthy learner. While learners were busy nibbling the snacks, the Closing Remarks was given by Mrs. Emelinda G.
Gerbolingo and before the program was concluded a Closing Prayer was led by Mrs. Milyn U. Vallo to give thanks to the
Almighty for the smooth flow and success of this day’s set of activities.

Before everyone went home, each was encouraged to prepare for the tree planting activity led by Mr. Gary L. Madriño.

Tree planting is a significant environment-friendly initiative that is aimed at providing shelter, oxygen, and beauty to the
environment. The activity involves planting tree seedlings in designated areas in parks, forests, or other public areas. It is
a proactive measure that significantly reduces pollution and provides habitats for many animal species. This essay aims
to provide a narrative/descriptive report of a tree planting activity I participated in. The tree planting activity took place
in the local park that had been designated as a planting site by the city administration. As we arrived at the park, a team
of forestry experts was already on site, preparing the area for planting. The team had already marked out the planting
sites and prepared the soil by tilling and removing any weeds in the area. The air was fresh with a scent of the earth, and
the sky was clear with a mild breeze blowing. As we began the planting exercise, the forestry experts first demonstrated
to us the correct way of planting the seedlings. We were taught to dig a hole that was twice the size of the seedling,
taking care not to damage the roots. The hole was then filled with a layer of compost to provide the seedling with the
necessary nutrients. We were also shown how to plant the seedling in the soil at the correct depth, providing it with the
appropriate support. The forestry team had brought different types of seedlings, ranging from fruit trees to indigenous
trees that would grow well in the area. As we began the planting, we were excited and eager to get started. Each of us
was assigned a specific planting area, and we began planting with enthusiasm and zeal. The experience of planting was a
fulfilling one. It required a lot of physical effort and patience as we had to dig deep to ensure that the roots were firmly
entrenched in the soil. As we continued with the planting, we could see the park start to transform into a lush, green
garden, with each plant adding to the beauty of the scenery. The joy of the exercise was amplified by the fact that we
were not only planting trees but were also positively contributing to the environment. We knew that in a few years, the
tiny saplings we had planted would have grown into towering trees providing homes to birds and other small animals
while providing shade to park visitors. The activity of planting trees was also an opportunity for self-reflection. It made
us realize that we have a responsibility to take care of the environment and ensure that future generations inherit a
world that is green and thriving with life. In conclusion, the tree planting exercise that I participated in was a memorable
and fulfilling experience. It was an opportunity to give back to the environment, and I will always cherish the memories
of the exercise. The beauty and environmental benefits of planting trees will provide a lasting legacy for future
generations to enjoy, and I hope that we can continue to engage in such activities in the future.
