Please Highlight TWO: Warm Up Skill Activity and Modified Games Cool Down

Date / Time / Venue: 14th June Ham Common

Name of Activity/Activities: rock, paper, scissors run, skills, handballing and kicking and relay game
Aim of Activity (What will your peers gain from doing these activity/ activities?): Learn a deeper understanding of kicking and handballing and have a
fun competitive time
Duration of Activity: 25 minutes
Size of Working Space Required (eg:3m x 3m): 10x10 most likely, but I can work with a smaller space
Number of Participants: 9
Equipment Required: cones, afl balls, hoops, two big stick things, whistle, lollies (Which I will provide myself),

How will you gain participant attention as the leader?

I will use a whistle and my voice to gather attention, and maybe some clapping patterns

How will you get your participants into groups?

I will just tell them to partner up in the number of groups I require. But if it’s taking too long I will put them into groups

How will you maximise participation?

By offering prizes for the players and if someone is really not interested in playing the game, they can do some kicking alone. If they don’t want
to do anything they might be able to help me coach the game.

Wet weather Plan (Plan B):

I will keep my warmup because it can be done in a small space, and it will be easy to do in half of the gym. For the skill I’d keep doing the
handballing skill and we’d work on small accurate kicks, then I will keep the handballing game and make the kicking game smallest and most
accurate. Then for the relay race I will have to make it turn around and bring the course back to the start and then kick to the other side.

Name of Leader Activity Responsibility Description of the Activity

Step by Step instructions / Teaching points / Diagrams

Leader 1: Mila Warmup game Warmup – rock, paper, scissors run

Skills kicking and handballing There are 4 lines. Everyone starts on the first line, where they have to find someone to do
rock paper scissors with and if they win they move onto the next line. They continue this
concept till they get to the fourth line. They then rock paper scissors somebody and if they win
they go back to the start and count that as a run, they will continue this until the 5 minutes is
up. Person who gets the most runs wins a lolly.
Skill – Kicking and handballing
We will all have a footy by this point and they will be standing on a line watching we
demonstrate how to do a proper kick. I will practice holding techniques, straight leg
techniques. Then we will practice handballing and I will show them a bit about passing and
correct form. Then we will do some small kicking and passing games. The kicking one is
where they will just kick it all together and the most accurate and farthest kick wins a lolly.
Then the handballing one is where they will get into 2 lines, slightly spaced out, and then they
will turn around and pass the ball to each other. First group to finish passing it down then sit
down wins a lolly. This should take 10 minutes.
Game – Relay game
I will start off by getting them into groups of 2 of 3 depending on the numbers. Then I will set
up a small obstacle course where they can practice the skills. First they will have to bounce
the ball through 4 hoops then pick it up and weave through 4 cones, and then they will have
to roll it through a little track and finally kick it through a goal. They will grab the ball and
handball it back to the next member of their team, then they will continue it till the whole team
has done it and sit down. Winners will win a lolly.
