Assignment: Speech 5 Special Occasion Speech This speech can be a speech of tribute, a speech to entertain, or speeches of presentation and

acceptance. Speech of Tribute You are to select some individual, either a well-known public figure or someone you have personally known (e.g., an inspiring teacher). In a speech of about 5 minutes, you are to pay tribute to this person. Even if the person is well known to your audience, you should recount his or her accomplishments and explain why the individual is deserving of tribute. A formal outline is required, and if a public figure is your focus, outside research should be included. You may use note cards to deliver this speech.

Presentation/Acceptance or Toast You will present, or accept an award in a speech of about 5 minutes. As the presenter you should describe the award and build up to the announcement of the winner. As the winner of an award you should give a thank you for the award. You can also choose to give a toast at a birthday, wedding, or another special occasion. A formal outline is required and note cards should be used sparingly if at all.
