Pre-Journey Preparation
Before the trip, students must:
✅ Research and prepare natural mosquito repellent and eco-friendly pesticide
✅ Learn about basic composting techniques
✅ Understand the importance of Leave No Trace principles**
✅ Familiarize themselves with TDS meters, pH meters, and chlorine test kits for water testing
Preparation

- Students making mosquito repellent, eco-friendly pesticide and compost.
24-27 Feb 2025 (During Break/Lunch/After School hours)
- Observing the composting process
Day 1 27 February 2025: Exploration & Experimentation
07:00 – Meet-up & Briefing
📍 Meeting Point: School/Starting Location
● Safety briefing & journey objectives
● Review team responsibilities (Cooking, Navigation, Science Experiments, Camp Setup)
08:00 – Departure to Batu
📍 Local Market/Supermarket
● Students receive a budget and a list of essential items (food)
● Teams must strategize and purchase wisely (30 mins challenge)
11:00 – Travel to Campsite & Setup
📍 Campsite Location
● Unload gear and set up cooking area
● Team leaders distribute responsibilities
12:30 – Lunch & Rest
● Prepare a simple outdoor meal
● Hydration & safety check
14:00 – Eco-Experimentation
📍 Experiment Area
● Pesticide & Mosquito Repellent Testing: Apply student-made organic pesticides on plants &
mosquito repellents in different areas, record observations
16:30 – Water Quality Testing
📍 Nearby Water Source (River/Lake at Campsite)
● Testing Parameters:
○ TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) – Measures water purity
○ pH Level – Checks acidity or alkalinity of water
○ Chlorine Content – Assesses chemical contamination
● Discussion:
○ Compare results to safe drinking water standards
○ Identify possible sources of pollution
○ Relate findings to real-world water purification techniques
18:00 – Dinner Preparation & Cooking
● Team cooking with budgeted ingredients
● Fire-building (if permitted) & outdoor cooking skills
20:00 – Night Gathering & Reflection
● Observe nocturnal wildlife
● Group sharing session: What did you learn today?
21:30 – Lights Out
● Rest for the next day’s adventure
Day 2 28 February 2025: Trekking & Waterfall Exploration
06:00 – Wake-up & Breakfast
● Pack-up camp & prepare energy-boosting breakfast
07:30 – Trek to Waterfall & Water Testing
📍 Nearest Waterfall Trail
● Navigation & teamwork practice
● At the waterfall:
○ Second round of water quality testing to compare with campsite water
○ Discussion on water quality differences between campsite and waterfall
08:30 – Waterfall Arrival & Activities
● Rest & hydration
● Fun activities (Environmental Clean Up)
9:30 – Return Trek to Campsite
● Clean-up & leave the site cleaner than it was
11:00 – Pack Up & Departure
● Clean the area & ensure minimal waste left behind
● Depart for home
11:30 – Lunch & Closing Session
