Good morning class? How are you today?

Good morning Sir! I’m good.
Steffi how many absentees do we have today?
None Sir!
Very good all are present!

Before we start we are going to pray first. Please lead

us in prayer Aleck. In the name of Father the Son and the Holy Spirit…

Amen. Please pick the pieces of dirt under your chair

and you may now take a seat.

Before the lesson

Review and recall the past lesson
Before we begin in our new lesson let’s review first our
past lessons about triangle angle sum theorem.

I will ask you class a question.

What is the sum of the interior angles of triangle? Yes

Saralyn? The sum of the interior angles of a triangle is 180˚.
Is it possible to all kinds of triangle such as scalene
triangle, isosceles triangle, equilateral triangle,
equiangular triangle, acute angled triangle, obtuse
angled triangle, and right angled triangle to be
measured 180˚? Yes CJ? Yes, All kinds of a triangle measures the sum of their
interior angles are always 180˚

Very good! Don’t forget that because we will use that

in our new lesson about sum of interior angles of a
convex polygon.

Motivation

I will show you different polygons then I want you to

name it one by one.

During the lesson
C. Abstraction

How can you find the measures of the sum of all

interior angles of a quadrilateral? (Take note that the
sum of all interior angles of a triangle is 180˚.) Yes In a quadrilateral It has 2 triangles. Therefore
Dan? combining the 2 sum of interior angles of a triangle it
will result to 180+180=360˚ .

Very good! Therefore the sum of the interior angles of

a quadrilateral is 360˚.

How can you find the measures of the sum of all In a pentagon It has 3 triangles. Therefore combining
interior angles of a pentagon? Yes Joshua? the 3 sum of interior angles of a triangle it will result
to 3(180 ¿=540 ˚ .

Very good! Therefore the sum of the interior angles of

a pentagon is 540˚.

How can you find the measures of the sum of all In a hexagon It has 4 triangles. Therefore combining
interior angles of a hexagon? Yes Rochelle? the 4 sum of interior angles of a triangle it will result
to 4 (180)=720 ˚ .

Very good! Therefore the sum of the interior angles of

a hexagon is 720˚.

How can you find the measures of the sum of all In a heptagon It has 5 triangles. Therefore combining
interior angles of a heptagon? Yes Xyca? the 5 sum of interior angles of a triangle it will result
to 5(180)=900˚ .

Very good! Therefore the sum of the interior angles of

a heptagon is 900˚.

The sum of the measures of the interior angles of a

polygon can be found by observing the pattern in the
table.

Polygon No. of sides No. of Sum of interior Angle

Triangle measures

Triangle 3 1 ( 1 ×180 )∨180 ˚
Quadrilateral 4 2 ( 2 ×180 )∨360 ˚

Sum of Interior Angles - the sum of the measures of
n-gon n n-2 (n-2)180˚
the interior angles of a convex n-gon is 180 ˚ ( n−2 ) .
How would you define the sum of interior angle based
in the patterns you observed?

Exactly! The formula is180 ˚ (n−2) , where n is the number

of the sides of a polygon.

Let’s have some example applying the formula of 180 ˚ (n−2)

finding the sum of interior angle of the convex 180 ˚ (9−2)
polygon: 180 ˚ (7)

1. Find the sum of interior angles of a regular 1,260 ˚

nonagon?

Very good! Let’s Solve another one! 180 ˚ (n−2)

180 ˚ (12−2)
2. Find the sum of interior angles of a regular 180 ˚ (10)
Dodecagon?
1,800 ˚

It is easy to solve using the formula of the sum of

interior angles of a convex polygon. Even though you
have a lot of sides. Using the formula it will be easy.

Let’s try some real life applications.

D. Application Answer:

Get your notebook and answer the following using the 180 ˚ (n−2)
formula 180˚ (n-2). 180 ˚ (13−2)
180 ˚ (11)
1. Some alumni students of Carolina National High
School are planning to donate a 13 – sided gazebo, 1,980 ˚
Find the sum of interior angles of the 13-sided
gazebo.
180 ˚ (n−2)
2. All grade 7 humility are task to make a 20 – sided 180 ˚ (2 o−2)
flower pot in front of their classroom, What is the 180 ˚ (18)
measure of the sum of the interior angles of a
3,240 ˚
flower pot?

After the lesson

IV. Assessment
Answer:
Get ¼ sheet of paper and answer the following:
1. 2,340˚
2. 4,140˚

3. 9,180˚
1. 15 – gon 4. 17,640˚
2. 25 – gon 5. 6840˚
3. 53 – gon
4. 100 – gon
5. 40 – gon

If you are finished submit your paper in front.
