AIA Los Angeles Proudly Announces the 8th Annual Restaurant Design Awards Jury Los Angeles, CA March 14, 2012 - AIA Los Angeles is proud to announce the jury for the 8th Annual Restaurant Design Awards (RDA's). This year's diverse group represents the best in their fields, from radio host, a chef and an architect that with each judge bringing their expertise and consummate taste to the judging table. Introducing the 8th Annual RDA Jury: Evan Kleiman - Host of the KCRW Radio show, Good Food, Chef, Restaurateur and Author. Evan Kleiman renowned owner and executive chef of one of LA's favorite restaurants, Angeli Caffe, and best-selling author of numerous cookbooks, including "Cucina Fresca" and "Pasta Fresca," is host of Good Food. In addition to her restaurant and writing pursuits, Kleiman also serves on the Board of Directors of the Hollywood Farmers' Market and on the Board of Overseers of The Chef's Collaborative 2000 -- organizations which are devoted to educating the public on issues of sustainability. She also holds special tastings, teaches at her restaurant and at local schools, and leads travel programs to experience the cuisine of France and Italy. Mark Rios, FAIA, FASLA - As Founding Principal, Mark Rios, FAIA, FASLA, has been the leader of both the design and business direction of Rios Clementi Hale Studios since first establishing the firm Rios Associates in 1985. Under his design leadership, the firm has developed an international reputation for its collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach, establishing an award-winning tradition across an unprecedented range of design disciplines. Michael Voltaggio - winner of the Sixth Season of Top Chef, Bravo's cooking competition reality show, he currently is head chef and owner of ink. He has a reputation for what critics herald as "serious" food that is playful, visually stunning and flawlessly executed. He was also named "Best New Chef" by Angeleno Magazine

A Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 2010, cementing a place within the Los Angeles culinary community. Most recently, GQ magazine named ink. the "Best New Restaurant in America" in the March 2012 issue - after just being open for five months. Claim a spot in the competition by registering at here no later than Monday April 2, 2012 and then submit your required materials a month later by Thursday May 4, 2012. Entry fees remain unchanged since year one of the program at $75/entry for AIA members and $125/entry for Non members. Entrants will be eligible for recognition in both the Jury and People's Choice awards categories and winners will be announced on the main stage of Dwell Magazine's Dwell on Design expo floor on Friday June 22, 1012. The competition is open to all individuals and practices with both restaurant owners and architects/designers invited to submit. Either the project itself must be located in the United States or the submitting individual/firm must be US-based. Submissions are accepted in three main categories: restaurants, cafs/bars and lounges/nightclubs. The annual RDA Ceremony recognizes both Jury Award Winners as well as Peoples Choice Award Winners, as selected by votes collected from the general public on the AIA|LA website.
