READING AND FILM

By Danielle Gault

the title has the same

font as the first so the
TITLE
audience can
recognise the film and
it will intrigue them to
watch it. The title is in
bold so it is eyecatching and the
colours stand out. The
colours also represent
sirens and coincides
with the genres. The
name is also
important as it is the
college they go to
where as in the first
they went to 21 jump
street

action and comedy

which fit together
effectively as one
GENRE
of them fails at
the physicality
part and one fails
at the mentality
part. The genres
are interesting and
will appeal to
many type of
people especially
if they are a fan of
action-comedy.

are:
CHANNING TATUM
JONAH HILL
They are both very

CAMERA SHOTS
AND ANGLES
They have used an establishing
shot along with an eye level angle
so the audience can see them at
their level and whats around
them.

They have used a close up

shot with an eye level
angle to show their
emotion on their face but
no to make the subject
gain or lose power.
They have used a mid-shot
with a low angle to give the
subjects power but so they
can see most of their body
and expressions with their

CAMERA
MOVEMENTS
They use a lot of
panning out from the
characters to change
to a different scene.
They also use truck
movement to move
around the subject to
show the whole
perspective of them
and what they are
doing. This is effective
as the audience can
see the whole story
and everything
happening around
them so they dont
miss out on anything.

TRANSITION
S
There aren't really
any transitions in
this scene apart
from when the title
of the film twists
and wipes the
screen to the next
shot. This is
effective as it makes
it more exciting for
the audience and
makes them
interested in the
film.

DIAGETIC
They have the sound
SOUND
of
the guns being
loaded when they are
practising their
technique and what
they are going to do.
You also have the
sound of the car
engine revving as
they drive and park
up. They have
included funny
comments to make it
humorous and to take
away some of the
seriousness.

NONDIAGETIC
SOUND
The narrator at the
beginning talks in a low
husky voice. First it
plays sad music when it
recaps the past then
adventurous music
kicks in when the
acting gets more
upbeat. They use a well
known song when they
start to prepare for
action as the words of
the song fits in. They
also use a swoosh
sound when the camera
pans out and rotates
around the setting.

SET
The first part of the
movie is set on a
rooftop overlooking
the city, this makes
it seem like they
have power. This is
effective as it makes
the audience feel
like the characters
have power when
they are overlooking
the city. It was set in
the early hours of
the morning as the
sun is rising.

LIGHTING
They use natural
lighting from the sun
to set the scene at
the start of the day. It
also has the sun rise
coming up above the
building which
creates a calm and
inspirational mood for
the audience just
before they start their
mission. The lighting
is effective as it also
sets the mood for the
scene.

COSTUMES
They are dressed as
normal people their
age would with jeans
and a shirt which
create a subtle mood
at the start of the
movie. This is
effective as it starts
the movie off calmly
before any of the
action starts so the
audience can get a
feel of what their
characters are like
before they start
acting undercover.

MAKE-UP
There
isnt any
make-up at the
beginning of the
film which creates
a natural mood as
the film is just
starting. This is
effective as you
get to know the
characters for
what they are
naturally before
they start going
undercover and
act out other
characters.

their
car which shows
they are older. They
also have a case full
of guns which tells
the audience that
they have something
to do with going
undercover to protect
someone or
something. It is
effective as it shows
they have power
over others and it
bring out the genre
of the movie at the
very start to show
what the movie may

ACTING/DIALOGU
E
They start of with
them listening to an
online college
professor trying to get
clues for their
investigation. They
then talk about what
they are doing (casual
conversation). As they
start to prepare for
their mission it
becomes more funny.
It is effective as it sets
the mood and you get
a feel of the
characters.
