Story of Christ the redeemer :

Priest Pedro Maria Boss suggested to Princess Isabel

that it was built on top of the Corcovado mountain a
religious monument
But this only came to become reality after 1912 to show
that the Catholic Church was present among the
Brazilian people
In 1921 the project was resumed, focusing on the
celebrations of the centenary of the Independence of
Brazil. The Corcovado Mountain was chosen to house
the monument because it is the highest point in the city
In 1922 - a petition that the statue was built
The campaign raised funds for the construction of Christ
lasted ten years and the monument was done with that
money
The work began in 1926, lasted five years and ended in
1931
Chosen in 2007 as one of the seven wonders of the world
