Key Competency
Managing Self
Students who manage themselves are enterprising, resourceful,
reliable, and resilient. They establish personal goals, make plans,
manage projects, and set high standards. They have strategies for meeting challenges.
They know when to lead, when to follow, and when and how to act independently
(NZC)
Delivered via the virtues of:
• Resilience
Resilience is the ability to work with adversity in such a way that one comes through it
unharmed or even better for the experience. Resilience means facing life’s difficulties
with courage and patience – refusing to give up.
• Responsibility
Responsibility (Dependability, Reliability, Trustworthiness) is the
act of carrying out prescribed roles and duties without supervision in home, school,
community and society. Responsibility is a force that binds you to your obligations.
