ACHIEVEMENTS
Piramal leads a team of scientists in cancer, diabetes,
inflammation and infectious disease research, with a
portfolio of over 200 international patents, and 14 new
drugs, which are in clinical trials globally.
In the last, nearly two decades, she has worked in the
prevention of chronic diseases like Diabetes, Arthritis, and
Heart Disease.
She is a founder of the Gopi Krishna Piramal Hospital in
Mumbai, and has launched public health campaigns
against chronic disease, Osteoporosis, Malaria,
Tuberculosis, Epilepsy and polio.

She founded a sports medicine which was success in
arthritis treatment of disabled children, the elderly, and
sports injuries.
She started Ostop India, a prevention of Osteoporosis
programme, and a field detection centre for detection of
Diabetes, Epilepsy,
she conducted nationwide campaign for the prevention of
chronic disease in India.
She has written several books on clinical nutrition and a
book on nutrition for patients with Kidney Disease.

2004–05 – BMA Management Woman Achiever of the Year
Award
2006 – Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite (Knight of the
Order of Merit), from the French President Jacques Chirac.
2006 – Lucknow National Leadership Award, in the Young
Leader in the field of Science and Technology category from
the Prime Minister of India.
2006 – Chemtech Pharma Award for "Outstanding
Contributions" in Pharma Biotech industries
2007 – Rajiv Gandhi Award for Outstanding Woman Achiever
by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation
2010–2011 – President of ASSOCHAM.
2010 – Global Empowerment Award in UK, at the London

2012 – One of India's high civilian honours, the Padma Shri
award, by the President of India, Ms. Pratibha Patil (180).
2012 – Swati received the Alumni Merit Award, the highest
award bestowed on Alumni from Harvard.
2012 – Received the Lotus Award at New York, from Children's
Hope India, for Leadership and Philanthropy.
2013 – Nominated for the Forbes Philanthropy Awards 2013 in
the Outstanding Philanthropist category.
2014 – Received the Kelvinator Stree Shakti Award
CONCLUSION
She currently serves on the Dean's Advisory Board of both the
Harvard School of Public Health and the Harvard Business
School.
She has Board Positions in healthcare, financial services,
manufacturing and service companies.
She serves on the Boards of Indian and International Academic
institutions such as IIT Bombay, and Harvard University.
She also serves on government public policy committees for
trade, planning, environment, arts, women's entrepreneurship,
national integration, and regional development.
