• Definition : a glider is a heavier-than-
air aircraft that is supported in flight
by the dynamic reaction of the air
against its lifting surfaces
• Most glider do not have an engine
Introduction • Some have small engine to extend
of glider flight time and some have big
enough engine to perform self take-
off
• The first successful glider was built by George
Cayley in 1853. It carried his terrified servant
on a short flight across a small valley before
crash-landing
• Otto Lilienthal was the first to make repeated
successful flights (eventually total over 2,000)
Introduction and was the first to use rising air to prolong his
flight
of glider • Otto Lilienthal from Germany built a series
of small, fragile gliders in the 1890s that were
inspired by the work of George Cayley.
• Before the glider was made, a
brainstorming session was done to
fine idea and inspiration to make the
Preparation glider
• Three existing full-size glider was used
to make as base design

the glider • Those gliders were chose because of

its design of its wing, fuselage, and
tail section
Preparation
to make
the glider • The Eta’s glider fuselage was taken for
(Design design inspiration
• It was chosen because the fuselage weight
ideas) distribution is balanced
• It can make the glider fly smoothly through
the air
Preparation
to make
the glider • The quintus glider was chosen
(Design because of the length of its wingspan
• This is because longer wingspan
ideas) creates more lift for longer flight
duration in the air
Preparation
to make
the glider • The vintus glider was chosen because the
construction of its tail
(Design • The tail section of this glider is big, meaning
it has more surface area
ideas) • More surface area can give more control
and stability to the glider
