LOCATED Luya is located in the south and west part of the department of Amazonas in Peru. Its territory, which partly is ceja de selva, is crossed by branches of the Cordillera Central (namely the Cordillera Blanca) and the Oriental of the Andes, being rasped by deep streams, high pampas and snowed summit. Luya has many tourist attractions: Kuelap – Karajía – Revash – Las cavernas de Quiocta… 1. Kuelap Fortress
The fortress of Kuelap –Chachapoyas – Amazonas - Peru, is a
walled city associated with the Chachapoyas culture built in 6th century AD. It consists of more than four hundred buildings surrounded by massive exterior stone walls. The complex is situated on a ridge overlooking the Utcubamba Valley in northern Peru and roughly 600 meters long and 110 meters wide. Cylindrical Houses There are multiple levels within the fortress. There are about 400 constructions, mostly cylindrical. Of these, only bases remain. In some cases, walls are decorated with friezes of symbolic content that, in general, seem to evoke eyes and birds that take the form of a letter V in a chain. EL TINTERO It is located at the southern end of the biggest anden, it is a circular tower in the shape of an inverted cone. This served as a food reservation. 2. KARAJÍA SARCOPHAGI
The sarcophaguses of Karajía, or Carajía, are a set of sarcophagi or
coffins according to the funerary tradition of the chachapoyas. These are 2,50 m high with human forms.They were found in the ravine of Karajía in the district of Luya of the Department of Amazonas, Peru) 3. REVASH
In a style different from that of Karajia, the places of burial
of Revash take the form of houses. 4. QUIOCTA CAVERNS
The caverns are located in Lamud town on a mountain that is part of
the Mountain range of Andes. The cavern is characterized for: the excessive humidity of the floor, 7 rooms with stalactites and stalagmites, being these the cemetery, the Pharaoh and the mummy…
