decorative plants for beatification
purposes
Vegetable gardening – gardening of
vegetables, fruits, and other crops.
- Many Filipinos are engaged in
agricultural activities like farming ,
gardening , livestock and poultry raising ,
fish culture, and others.
- Gardening as one livelihood activity
includes raising trees and fruit tree
oranamental plant medicinal and herbal
plants, fruits, vegtables , and others
There are two types of outdoor gardening

1. Ornamental gardening- which

includes raising different plants
for decorative purposes.
2. Vegetable gardening – which
includes raising different
vegetables, fruits, and other
crops.
Importance of ornamental Gardening

1. It can be a livelihood and an

occupation in itself thus it can be a
source of income.
2. It is interesting and an enjoyable
activity especially when planting an
array of plants with beautiful flowers ,
leaves, colors, texture, and sizes.

who are interested in plants and
gardens.
4. It can be a therapeutic activity as it
gives joy and fulfillment by seeing the
plants grow into a full bloom.

7.It keeps the body active , healthy,
and productive.

Kinds of Ornamental gardens
1. Container Garden-ornamental plants
grow in containers like earthenware
dishes , clay pots, rubber or plastic
boxes and in recyclable cans.
- Bonsai dish gardening requires
long tedious care and maintemnance.
But it pays off because these are sold at
very high prices.

2. Formal Flower Garden-this consist of
flowerbeds laid out in a balanced and regular
arrangements .
-This types of garden gives an impression of
neatness, orderliness , and beauty.
-this is found in many beautiful landscapes in
hotels, buildings and big house.
- This type of garden requires the constant
care of skilled gardeners.

3. Informal Flower Garden-this consist of beds o
flowers arranged in casual and irregular manner. beds may
unevenly curved and each may have several kinds of flowe
in different height and shapes.
-Many informal gardens are found in typical houses,
pathwalks, parks playgrounds, and on the side of streets.
- Common for this type garden include San Francisco,
peanut grass, water palnts, palmera, yellow bells, Chinese
holies, calachuchi, mayana, gumamela and many others.

4. Rock Garden-this is very popular type of
garden infront of houses, commercial buildings,
resort, hotels, condominiums , and the like.
-it is a combination of rock and plants arranged to
create a theme or scenario.
- They come in different color(red, gray, and brown
Texture (rough and smooth)and sizes(as big as
boulders and small as pebbles)
- -sometimes a rock garden a water fountain that
light up the night is a beauty to behold.

5.Water Garden-this is a body of water
usually a pool or man – made pond , in
which plants that live in water are grown.
-some have to build an artificial pond
which can be expensive.
- A completed water garden also needs
care and maintenance .

5.Wild Flower Garden-this is type is made
up of native wild flowers which can be
inexpensive and easy to grow.
-Many dig wild flowers or collect the seeds
in the countryside for their garden .
These flowers also have seeds that can be
bought.
