OBJECTIVES
At the end of the session, the participants will be
able to:

1. identify differences among approaches, methods,


techniques and strategies.
2. identify different methods and techniques in teaching
Araling Panlipunan.
3. prepare appropriate methods and techniques for specific
competencies/ topics in Araling Panlipunan 6.
4. realize the importance of using appropriate methods and
techniques in teaching Araling Panlipunan.

ACTIVITY
1. Each group will receive two (2) sets of color-
coded metacards. One set of metacards are
common concepts used in teaching-learning
process while the other set are examples of the
concept.

BASIC CONCEPTS
APPROACH
It is a set of principles, beliefs, or ideas about the nature
of learning which is translated into the classroom.

METHOD
It is a systematic way of doing something. A series of
related and progressive acts performed by a teacher
and students to achieve the objective of the lesson.

BASIC CONCEPTS
TECHNIQUE
It is a set of steps we follow when we teach. It is the
personal art and style of the teacher in carrying out the
procedure of teaching.

STRATEGY
It is a set of decisions to achieve an objective that
results in plan. It is a way of approaching a problem or
task or planned design for controlling and manipulating
certain information.

Serve as guide in preparing all the materials needed.

Assist the teacher to determine the proper sequencing and time


allotment for activities/ learning tasks.

Serve as guide in observing performance indicators.

Help plan the assessment instrument that could reveal whether the
objectives were achieved.

Add to a strong feeling of confidence and security for the teacher as well

COMMONLY USED
DEMONSTRATION METHOD
In the demonstration method, the teacher or an
assigned student or group shows how a process is
done while the students become observers.

The demonstrator is knowledgeable in preparing


the apparatus needed according to the steps to be
followed. The rest of the class becomes focused on
the activity and concentration on the subject is
assured.

Activity method is a technique adopted by a
teacher to emphasize his or her method of
teaching through activity in which the students
participate rigorously and bring about efficient
learning experiences. It is a method in which the
child is actively involved in participating mentally
and physically. Learning by doing is the main
focus in this method.
