INTRODUCTION
• Visual illusions occur due to properties of
visual areas of the brain as they receive and
process information.
• The scientific study of illusions dates back to
the beginning of the nineteenth century when
scientists got interested in perception.
OPTICAL ILLUSION
An optical illusion (also called a
visual illusion) is one which shows
images that differ from normal
reality.
The information gathered by the
eye is processed in the brain to
give a perception. That is normal,
but in these cases the appearance
does not tally with a physical
measurement of the stimulus
source.

MEDICAL REASONS
• There is research to suggest that some
optical illusions are caused by medical
syndromes such as schizophrenia.
Because of the nature of the disease, an
individual sees something different than
what is actually being seen. This is
caused by the brain interpreting the
information differently than it normally
would be.
Science behind
Optical Illusions – An
Explanation with the help of
Visuals. The brain is set up to
receive and interpret
messages from the eye.
Optics, a branch of physics,
studies the interaction of the
light and the eye and this
interaction plays an
important role in optical Spinning Dancer Illusion
