Wind direction in Erbil

Wind analysis
The wind rose shows how many hours per year the wind blows from the indicated direction.
Example SW: Wind is blowing from South-West (SW) to North-East (NE). Cape Horn, the
southernmost land point of South America, has a characteristic strong west-wind, which makes
crossings from East to West very difficult especially for sailing boats.

 Conclusion
• According to Erbil temperature in which in December and January is cold in November , February and march is cool in April and
October is warm in may and September is hot and in June July august is sweltering.
 So we have to use shadings and greeneries(natural shading by trees and other plants ) for out door path ways and gathering
areas .

• Daylight duration
 In mars 12h 9min
 In June 14h 38min
 In September 12h 13min
 In December 9h 42 min
• The average daylight duration is 12h 2 min
 So we can get benefit from sun energy by using it for solar panels and taking maximum natural light to the inside of the building
to reduce electricity.
 Using shadings for south east and south west and north west
 Taking in consideration the average hot climate of Erbil city we have to use materials with high insulation to keep inside cool and
comfortable

• Because the average weather of Erbil is dry

 Water is essential for keeping you cool during hot and dry weather so we have to use fountains
