1. Turn open the yellow gas knob but the
regulator and air hole should be CLOSE!
2. Light a match and place it near the opening of
the Bunsen burner.
3. Slowly turn open the regulator.
4. Throw the match to the beaker with water.
5. Adjust the air hole to get a blue flame.
6. Close the air hole, regulator and the yellow
gas knob.
WHEN IN DOUBT, ALWAYS CLOSE THE
YELLOW GAS KNOB.
NEVER DETACH THE HOSE!!!

Check the properties on page 82-89

1. Hydrochloric Acid
2. Distilled water

5. When in doubt, turn off yellow gas knob.
ROLE TASK
RECORDER Will have special practice, demonstrate the use of the Bunsen burner to the class, recheck
everything/ procedures for safety, bring the worksheet in behalf of the group

REPORTER Cleaning the nichrome wires with HCl, check that there will no longer be colored flames
(Test for nichrome wire) before rinsing it with distilled water
COLLECTOR Flame test for Substance A and B

GOPHER 1 Get the chemicals. No excess chemicals!
