The President Ramon Magsaysay State University shall primarily provide

REPUBLIC ACT No. 9163
- establishes the National Service Training Program or
NSTP( for tertiary level students) amending for the
purpose as stated on the Republic Act No. 7077 and
P.D. No. 1706

- R.A. 9163, Sec. 3, as a program aimed at enhancing civic


consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by
developing the ethics of service and patriotism while
undergoing training in any of its three program
components.

THREE PROGRAM COMPONENTS OF NSTP

CWTS- CIVIC WELFARE TRAINING SERVICE


Contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of life for
the members of the community. Devoted to improving health,
education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation, and
moral of the citizenry.

LTS- LITERACY TRAINING SERVICE


Train students to teach literacy and numeracy skills to school
children, out of school youth.

ROTC – RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS.


R.A. 7077, Sec 38-39 designed to provide military training to
tertiary level students in order to motivate, train, organize and
mobilize them for national defense preparedness
IS EVERY FIRST YEAR STUDENT COVERED BY THE NSTP LAW?

-YES, Male Female enrolled baccalaureate degree


-two years Technical Vocational
-associate course are required to complete
at least 1 of the three components of the NSTP
as a graduation requirement stipulated R.A. 9163
Rule 3, Sec. 4a.

WHAT IS THE TIME DURATION OF THE NSTP PROGRAM?

-Every student shall take NSTP for an academic period of two semesters.
-consist of 3 units per semester
- minimum of 54 hours
- maximum of 90 training hours per semester
- also undertaken for one summer program in lieu of the 2 semesters
if the institution allows it.

DO STUDENTS NEED TO PAY NSTP FEE?
-Rule 4, Sec. 9 of the NSTP Law which states that:
“No fees shall be collected for any of the NSTP
components except basic tuition, which should not be more
than fifty (50%) percent of the charges of the school per
academic unit”

- some universities requires minimal fee for uniform


with consent from the concerned authorities. The reason
for this is for identification and safety of
the students since most of the NSTP Programs are done
outside the university.
ARE EXCEMPTED STUDENTS TO TAKE THE NSTP?

-YES Those transferee who took the NSTP from other


university
-graduate of associate course before S.Y. 2003-2004
-students who completed any of the three components
but considered freshmen to the course where they
transferred or shifted; foreign students, students of
PMMA, PNPA, PMA.
WHAT WILL THE STUDENTS RECEIVED AFTER
COMPLETING NSTP PROGRAM?
- Every student will be given a certificate of completion
with corresponding serial number issued by CHED,
TESDA and DND.

All graduates of the CWTS ,LTS shall belong to National


Service reserve Corps(NSRC) and could be tapped by state for
literacy and civic welfare activities especially in times of calamities.

Those graduates of ROTC shall form part of the


Citizen Armed Forces

CLASSROOM POLICIES
1. 50% level of proficiency in all course requirements is required in
order to pass the subject.
2. Attendance is strictly monitored. Any students whose absences
have reached 20% of the required no’s of hrs. of classes shall be
given a grade of 5.0 failure due to absences as stated in the Student
Handbook.
